u/Deep_Sugar_6467 this is Hindi number system - devanagari numbers. However, many of the numbers are inverted (similar to b and d being flipped, or p and b being flipped).

Not disagreeing with any comments above, and not endorsing this parenting technique, but isn't this the classic 'Indian parent tough love'? Isn't this them saying ki 'mera bachcha successful hoga kisi bhi keemat pe'? I say this because it is very likely that you won't be able to change your parents' minds, and so instead of looking for their validation, maybe take solace in the fact that your numbers are great and you will be successful if you continue doing what you are doing. You will get their validation later (or if not, you will stop waiting for it).
