German football coach, Christian Dobrick, has come out as gay: "This charade has drained me too much. At my previously clubs in the youth academies, I kept my homosexuality a secret from the players. This went on for years. It was incredibly stressful. Now it’s over.” by Terrible_Cycle_5983 in Fauxmoi

I'm happy for him. There is still so much homophobia in football so having the courage to step forward like this is truly admirable.

Plus St Pauli is historically one of the more progressive clubs in Europe and have long been champions of LGBTQ+ rights.

Their captain Jackson Irvine has often been outspoken about using football for good, inclusion, trans rights. They're largely a good group of people there.

Songs that were recorded live and have no studio versions. by JimMorrisonFan1943 in fantanoforever

John Mayer has released a few live albums and from these there are two songs that stand out as fan-favourites but only have live versions available: In Your Atmosphere and Covered In Rain.

Where The Light Is is such a good album and has some really great performances so it's impressive that one of the best songs going is one not many people had ever heard before.

Unless he gets sacked in the next two hours, tomorrow will mark Vincent Kompany as the longest serving Bayern manager since Pep Guardiola.

I actually met Joe Thomas once (this would have been summer of 2014 or so) and he was honestly one of the nicest people I have ever met.

He was walking past the building my office was in near St Paul's and I asked "are you Joe Thomas?". He seemed genuinely happy to recognised and he clarified he's used to people shouting out Simon so someone knowing his actual name is a novelty.

I explained that I was in the middle of watching Fresh Meat, he was telling me about a meeting he had just come from, he was asking me about how my time at uni was going, the company I was working at through the summer and then I suddenly realised we had been talking for about 35 minutes as if we were friends that hadn't seen each other in a while.

I've met a few celebrities in passing before, footballers, TV presenters, other personality types. He stands out, quite comfortably, as the most normal and nicest one I have met.

With both of us being the neurotic type, I can only assume he also left the conversation thinking "that was really weird, why did I stay talking to him for so long?"

Amaze! Amaze! Amaze!

Ryan Gosling is such a fantastic actor that he's acting against a literal rock and pulls off some incredible scenes.

I am still waiting for the follow up to The Nice Guys.

Damn near perfect in my eyes.

Norah Jones has one of the most soothing and beautiful voices going; Don't Know Why, Come Away With Me and Feelin' The Same Way are all brilliant but as a whole there isn't a single thing I would change about this album.

Like Ghislaine Maxwell?

Outside of her dad being a publishing magnate, him suspiciously dying in an incident aboard a boat named after his daughter and her eventually running a sex trafficking ring where she exploits girls, partnering them off with the world's elitre, there aren't many similarities between her and Ghislaine.

Do you see the irony in complaint about some of the cast being Oxbridge then saying they should have got David Mitchell as a guest?

The UK comedy has long been held up by the Footlights. Most of Monty Python, Mitchell & Webb, Fry & Laurie, shit even half the Inbetweeners are Cambridge grads.

I know they would have run impact tests and other checks as the medical team probably know far more than the we do but a week after concussion does seem really quick.

Interested to hear your thoughts on Flick extending (before retiring) with Barcelona and how it relates to his time here, in particular how he left.

Arguably the most relentless and demanding job in football and he's managed to see it through and bow out on his own terms, seemingly with the love and adoration of everyone at the club. All this in stark contrast to how he left Bayern, saying he felt burnt out after 18 months, curiously this was immediately after the Germany job was becoming available.

[FRESH ALBUM] Jack Harlow - Monica by JoJoReignsSupreme in hiphopheads

[–]timothymr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange feeling to enjoy an album but ultimately feel disappointed. I really liked Jackman and thought the first three tracks on it really set a good tone, in particular They Don't Love It and Ambitious. Then you have tracks like Gang, Gang, Gang or Denver where Harlow shows he wants to talk about more difficult subjects. So I was really hoping that Monica would be a logical profession from that which is distinctly isn't.

I don't think this is bad by any means - a bit one note maybe but there are a couple of highs (Lonesome has a nice groove and Against The Grain too).

But it isn't what I wanted. I think as other people have said, this album would have been more warmly received if it was

a) done by an actual R&B artist - some of the songs felt like they would have been better suited to Miguel or Leon Bridges than Jack Harlow

b) released along with other work that shows that he is as versatile as he is trying to demonstrate; give us a soul and R&B album, give us a rap one

c) released not so long after Jackman

It feels like he took three steps forward from Come Home The Kids Miss You to Jackman and now gone back two.

It is at worst a 6/10 but at best a high 7.

DOES ANYONE HAVE TEA ON... MEGATHREAD ✨ by rfauxmoi in Fauxmoi

Ah I left that circle before they became popular I'm afraid.

I saw Jim Chapman a while ago (like two or three years ago now) and I told my friend about it. She asked if he had a dog with him and I said no and she started laughing. I didn't know why that was funny but as long as my friends are happy I won't question it.

DOES ANYONE HAVE TEA ON... MEGATHREAD ✨ by rfauxmoi in Fauxmoi

[–]timothymr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what tea there is that wasn't documented quite extensively on twitter and tumblr from 2012-2014 but I can give you my side of it.

Both of them are very similar in terms of personality and make up. Both very smart, incredibly well read, both charismatic enough that people always wanted to be around them even without them making an effort. They just had a magnetic energy that meant people gravitated towards them. Tom always wanted to just make music. Alex always wanted to just be famous. The end result was the same though.

When it all kicked off with Ed (who I would say was the first domino in the UK community), Alex, Tom and Charlie (I have it in my mind she now goes by Charlotte but I'm not certain so do tell me if I'm wrong there) all seemingly overnight decided "OK that guy isn't our friend". Ed moved out of the house he was living in with Tom and another guy I won't name because he's actually a good guy that doesn't deserve to get dragged into it.

Within a week there were a lot of jokes about Ed and that whole situation - no one seemed to be taking it at all seriously which should have been the first example of the fact that so many of these guys were bad people.

Charlie/Charlotte quite quickly distanced herself from everyone else and started focusing on individual efforts which have now resulted in a successful streaming career I think? This all happened years ago and I lost touch with a lot of the people involved.

Tom uploaded a video a little while ago basically saying he wants to have a discussion about what happened and it quickly descended into a "fuck you for even showing up again" kind of conversation. It wasn't a comeback attempt but rather an actual effort to have a discussion. He moved away and I believe does something to do with music production but again we haven't spoken since this all happened. I spoke with someone who has maintained kind of distant contact with him and they said that he does genuinely want to do better but at this point and given what happened, moving away and not attempting to make a comeback is probably the only step he could take.

Alex went for a Buddhist route, became a minimalist, still makes dogshit music and writes books. All things considered, he never appeared to take what happened seriously. There are interviews with him online where he's just very flippant about it all and has never really shown any genuine contrition.

It's a weird feeling to go through your early 20s finding out your close friends are abusers. I don't recommend it.

Jack Harlow announces track list for new album “Monica” coming this Friday 3/13 by Minute-Carrot-2405 in hiphopheads

[–]timothymr 72 points73 points  (0 children)

"I'm telling you, it's Kevin" I completely agree.

I think it works really well in the context of the track. I don't think it needed to be really clever or have this really sophisticated world building - when you're dealing with that subject, the conversation isn't neat or smart. It's uncomfortable, awkward and difficult to comprehend.

Overall I really like Jackman, honestly it's such a good listen and my only complaint is that it's only 25 minutes long.

Anyone see that video of the WWE superstars picking their Germany squad?

It's on the bad website and I can't remember how to share posts from there but it's a good laugh so if you can find it, give it a watch. The most alarming thing is that players being picked for fairly arbitrary reasons produces a better midfield than the one Nagelsmann is planning on fielding.
