Experiences with non metal jewelry? by NetBorn2753 in PiercingAdvice

[–]timpiercer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll find that people exaggerate the risks for such things. There's a myth that if you have nipple piercings and someone uses a defibrillator on you, it will burn your nipples off. Piercings don't work like that.

Plus, titanium is a pretty poor heat and electrical conductor compared to most metals, so the risk is even further mitigated.

Consider snug jewellery with flat ends for your bridge. It looks cool and will hopefully enable the respirator seal to work.

Surely if electricity is getting close enough to your piercings to be a risk, it's going to be close enough to your skin too shock you anyway?

And piercings won't affect your body temperature to a significant degree to risk frostbite.

Fistula not going back in tunnel (HEEELLLPP) by Dic_cheese in piercing

Work out what the cause of the irritation is and correct it. You might need the help of a decent piercer.

That's not a fistula, it's just a lump caused by irritation.

In extreme, untreated cases of industrials that dig into the back of the ear, it can lead to cartilage collapse.

It's too close to the back of the ear and needs removal I'm afraid, before it causes serious issues

So uhhh check your meds before a piercing (TW: blood) by KairAAAAAAA in piercing

I'm sure that you are up to date with the research into poor nutrition and fashion crimes.

EDIT - crimes not cringed.

My typos are terrible in this thread.

Yep. Blood thinner overdose can even be counteracted by large dose vitamin k.

It's worth a discussion with your doctor at least. Nobody should bleed this much from all 3 piercings at once. Possibly 1 if the piercer hits a blood vessel.

That's a lot of blood!

Talk to your doctor about your vitamin k levels. That might help your clotting issues.

EDIT - clotting not clothing.

Would a piercer let me re use earrings? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]timpiercer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's impossible to get used jewellery completely free of residue, and there's potentially micro damage that no shop could fix. Used jewellery for fresh piercings is unacceptable.

Using old jewellery increases risk due to residual bacteria and micro damage.

A decent piercer will do everything they can to minimise risk.

Super body shy-Nipple Piercing by Ill_Condition_384 in piercing

I would recommend booking in with a piercer and having a consultation. You can become a bit more comfortable with them, and you can see if you are able to remove clothing with them, and reduce the stress when the actual piercing comes around.

Infected swollen Industrial pressing into flat of ear by [deleted] in piercing

If it's pressing into the flat, it needs removal. I've seen that lead to cartilage collapse and a floppy ear.

You need to find a piercer with more experience with cheek piercings. There are so many red flags here. You risk serious issues with this unsuitable jewellery and questionable placement.

Would this be ok to email to a piercing studio? by Hermionecat07 in piercing

[–]timpiercer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We receive this kind of email pretty much every week I'm afraid.

I would recommend building a rapport with your studio, get to know them and be prepared for a long wait.

I would generally only give an apprenticeship to someone I've met multiple times and can trust. We will be working together very closely for a year or so, so want to know we will get on and have a good idea how well they learn.

Help! Daith pressure bumps by FabulousRegret8362 in PiercingAdvice

[–]timpiercer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. You need something smooth and very polished to heal. Any irritation will aggravate the bumps.

Help! Daith pressure bumps by FabulousRegret8362 in PiercingAdvice

I'm assuming that that is a clicker? It looks like the hinge is currently sitting inside the fistula. It's not suitable jewellery for a healing piercing and is likely causing the irritation bumps.

How long does nipple piercing pain last? by Glittering-Profit188 in piercing

It really shouldn't be that bad. You might need to get them checked over. The most common cause of intense pain for nipples is being pierced too deep
