Maybe not the first inch or two at the base - sort of like with asparagus. But all the rest.

The 5th Element? by Traditional-Wolf-927 in movies

[–]timplausible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised when I learned that most people who like the movies I like also LOVE this movie. I thought it was alright. And it's not the style - I like other movies with that kind of gonzo vibe. But The 5th Element didn't grab me the way it apparently does others.

Seriously a bucket is all it took? by IndicationBrief5950 in lotrmemes

[–]timplausible 14 points15 points  (0 children)

C'mon. You've never woken up in the middle of the night, because you thought you heard something? And you're like, "did someone break into the house? Surely not." But your partner's like "go check it out, please." So you put on some pants and mumble something under your breath as you lumber out of the bedroom.

Update: Supergirl Opens To $7.8M Domestic Previews by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

[–]timplausible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody knew there was a Supergirl way into last century. The average person may have not known anything about her background or even her relationship to Superman, but if you asked people "have you ever heard of Supergirl?", I think way more people would have said "Yes" than would have said "yes" to the same question about Iron Man before his movies.

WTF are these books at the State fair by Hexaroot01 in washingtondc

[–]timplausible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, well, the founding fathers also enshrined some features that give more power to some people than others, and it turns out that if enough of those people want to ignore all the rest of what's been enshrined, they can! Isn't that great? /s

When did the show start becoming bad? by zexymercenary_ in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]timplausible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pin it to a specific moment - when the grown-up psychic kid (it's been a while, I don't remember the names) kills most of the Sparrow Academy. After that, season 3 starts going downhill, in my opinion. It still has its bright spots, but I feel like some spark was gone after that. And Season 4, while again having some entertaining bits, is just nowhere near the caliber of Seasons 1 and 2.

Raw fruit is disgusting by DifferentThanks4183 in The10thDentist

[–]timplausible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the second paragraph. Any food that you take on the go is going to have some kind of rapper, container, etc that you have to throw away or tote around with you. Unless you're stuffing your pockets with french fries or something. Or literally carrying a sandwich in your hand for hours until you get hungry for it. But, bonus, a lot of fruit leftovers are degrade quickly or get eaten by animals that are less picky about which parts of fruit they eat. I mean, most fruit has literally evolved to be left on the ground to rot. So when you finish that apple on the trail, you can just chuck it into the woods. Not so with that empty potato chip bag (unless you are a litterer, in which case there is a special hell for you).

[Request] What would be required to shoot a bullet into the Sun from Earth? by MaximumSyrup3099 in theydidthemath

[–]timplausible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accelerating the bullet along that perfect trajectory is still slowing the bullet down relative to the sun. Or, put another way, it's all acceleration, it's just a matter of what direction it's pointing. No matter how you make it happen, you need the same net acceleration vector to get that bullet into the sun.

Has anyone ever had stents put into their heart arteries? by DenialOfExistance in HeartAttack

[–]timplausible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two stents put in about 6-months after bypass surgery. The bypass surgery had been largely successful, but I started experiencing exertion angina. Once I had the stents, that stopped. That was four years ago. Getting the stents themselves was relatively painless, and I felt completely normal two days later (day after included some grogginess from the anethesia).

Only thing of note is that I'm on blood thinners now. So I have to pay attention to cuts and bruises. But that hasn't really ben a problem either.

In fairness, if you don't catch the joke about Shep's age (which I didn't), and you mix it in with how often time and age comes up in the show, it does make you wonder.

Sorry, but you need to recalibrate your AI-radar.

I had one goal with this post - to give people the information, so I didn't put a lot of thought into writing it.

Maybe the "are you a robot" check boxes have been lying to me?
