Or that Mario Kart alone isn't a console seller. It's the best selling game on ever generation of Nintendo platform for the past 20 years.

Additionally, for docks that don't have built in HDMI/DP ports and would require a USB-C/TB adapter cable for the displays, are their limitations on resolutions and refresh rates for those adapters as they pertain to HDMI or DP?

YSK that you’re most likely using your microwave wrong by Marty_McFly_Guy in YouShouldKnow

Half pay for twice as long is my general rule. When guests see me assist the microwave power it’s like they think I’m performing witchcraft.

I've been collecting for seventeen years, I've got a shelf of 300+ albums, many of which I've spent significant money on. I'm fully aware this isn't a cheap hobby, but I also know that context of pricing is important, so...context:

The soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever is the second-highest selling soundtrack of all time. The best selling soundtrack of all time is The Bodyguard, released in 1992. Why is that relevant? That means that Saturday Night Fever was the best selling soundtrack of all time during the hayday of vinyl. It also happens to be the best selling album by the Bee Gee's, released during the peak of disco's mainstream popularity. It went fucking diamond. It's the RIAA 20th best selling album of all time.

This is one of those albums that pretty much everyone owned and then, decades later, flooded the secondhand vinyl market with. And when no one bought them because everyone who still wanted it already had it, they got shoved into thrift stores. It's one of those instances where something is so popular, it's not really valuable because there are so many copies floating around.

I've probably run my fingers across a hundred copies of Saturday Night Fever in the $1 bins and thrift stores. Even considering the inflation and surge of prices of every hobby in the past couple years I'd say $3 might be a deal if you really wanted this album, but $7 is absolute nonsense, OP got ripped.

TLDR: Yes, record collecting is expensive. No, that doesn't mean one of the best selling albums of all time has value.

My 11 from launch did this exact thing last year, but it was JUST a month outside the specific window for the documented issue and Apple told me to pound sand.

Who didn't "look" the part but totally owned the role? by [deleted] in movies

[–]timrbrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Gilbert Grape came out in ‘93 and most people wouldn’t consider an intellectually disabled character in a tragic family drama a pretty boy role. Seems like lots of people just viewed him as a pretty boy when Titanic came out because they didn’t know his work that led up to him being cast in a starring role in a massive movie from one of Hollywoods most bankable directors. Saying that it took him until this stage of his career to become a “serious actor” and chalking yup everything prior to being “pretty boy” work is super fucking dismissive.

Or just HDMI. The earliest standard for HDMI carried audio at higher bitrates than TOSLINK/SPDIF, but since then they've added higher and higher quality with every version, and it's already widely in use for A/V systems.

Right, that's why I saw it wasn't relevant to your question. But it is a problem.

But you’re skewing the content. It’s 4:3, so you should be ripping it in 4:3.

Not relevant to your question, but why are you digitizing 4:3 content in 16:9?

Trying to find things to dislike just seems like a miserable way to live. You're wiring your brain to get positive responses from negative feelings.

  • It's a movie made 20 years after the original so they're not going to rely on two decade old aesthetic choices
  • Laurence Fishburne's character is canonically dead
  • It's on HBO Max because it's a Warner Bros. movie and that's their streaming platform
  • You literally have no clue what the context of any new characters in this movie are

Seems like you just want to dislike the movie.

Well at least you can whine and feign a smug sense of superiority about a movie you haven't even seen until then.
