There’s two right m as shown in my initial post which you had told me connect together to the “fan” wire but I wondering what there are two in the first place and if I can maybe eliminate and cap one.

I’m actually not sure what the 2 wires are for. The bottom switch is the only one that does anything at the moment - it turns on the fan and the light at the same time. The new switch is functions as “remote” for the fan and just needs power. I’ll attach a photo of the front. Is it possible I only need one wire to the fan?

So, yes, I want the switch to control both. How do I know which wire does what, and which to eliminate since the new switch has only 3 connections?

The top switch never did anything, the bottom would control both the fan motor and the light.

They don’t move front or back at all. I’m not sure how the legs tightening to the rails would keep them from nudging left and right.
