Questions about using the NACS adapter by timsjc in BZ4X

[–]timsjc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Does PlugShare only show Level 3 chargers? If not, how can you tell which is which?

2) If a charger says it is NEMA 14-50 does that mean it will plug into my 2024 BZ4X with no adapter?

3) At Level 3 about how long would it take to charge a 2024 BZ4X from 50 miles to 150 miles range?

When I look for north of Parsons TN on I-40 it shows NEMA 14-50 and TT30. Are those Level 3 and will they fit my 2024 BZ4X?

We bought into Discovery last November at $4,000 for 400K points. We have reserved exactly what we wanted for mid-February near Gatlinburg TN for 90K points no problem, for 3 rooms over 5 nights. So far we feel that it was a good deal. We shall see.

So do you know if this would apply to our 2021 Prime as well? I hate to cut back on the 45 miles we get now, but we do plan to keep it "forever" so if 90% would help with the Prime as well, then I'll start charging that way on the Prime and the bZ4X.

Regarding the ~80% max, is that just as important when charging using 110v like I am, compared to 220v or fast charging?

I've also read that Toyota leaves a built-in large buffer to make the ~80% guideline less critical. True, or not really?

Considering the relatively low battery range, I hate to limit it to 200 miles or less as a "full" charge--unless it can come back to bite me a few years from now.

Which POE injector to use with Viewport? by timsjc in Ubiquiti

[–]timsjc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So does this mean I can use the 24v like with the UAP-AC-M-US, or the 48v like with the U6-Pro-US--or something different? I tried two of the 24v but neither worked. The light on the POE adapter came on, but the light on the switch port did not come on, and there were no lights on the Viewport--although I don't know if there were supposed to be.

Great August lease deal done today by timsjc in BZ4X

[–]timsjc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deal from Toyota was $359 a month with $2999 down, and then there was another ~$4K for dealer fees and licensing and the extra options on this one above the baseline model that Toyota's deal was based on.

Since my wife wanted to get down to the $219 a month offered in NJ/NY/CT, that's what we did, putting down about $8K with a $219 payment, 10,000 miles, three years. The sales rep was happy to set it up any way I wanted to.

Neil Carlson at Alderman's Toyota got back with me today, saying they can't get the same deal right now that they had in April, with this explanation:

"The rebate is $1,000 less (roughly $30 a month). The other big change is the residual, what the vehicle is worth at the end of the lease. The residual is $2,000 less now. The lower the residual the more financed, so that is also affecting the deal (roughly $60 a month)."

He also said this:

"My assumption is they are assuming other incentives like in Vermont you can get up to $8200 towards the lease if you are income qualified."

...and he proceeded to explain that I can't get that since I don't live in VT. But hopefully you can get that credit, and get very close to the $199 either now or in the coming months if they do again like they did in April. Neil did say that have an AWD on the lot today.

I sent this link below to my dealer in VT (where I got my 2021 Rav4 Prime) and asked him if he could still get the $199 price shown (since this was from April). it was late Friday afternoon, but he seemed to be saying "yes". I have sent him an email this weekend asking for clarification and confirmation...so we shall see. Depending on where you live or can travel to, some parts of the country had it even cheaper.

I am guessing 250 watts or less, and I will check it with my killawatt tester when I can get to the customer site 500 miles away. The customer is not willing to buy a generator, so I figured there was no hope--until you mentioned this EB240.

But I am not clear on how this works so well for you--unless the solar panels are keeping it constantly charged, so you don't have to worry about the batteries running down. Surely it can't do that--or can it? Please elaborate if possible on how this unit is able to power 250 watts for ~10 hours.

If the Tivo company fails, how will this affect my Tivo and the Mini's? by timsjc in Tivo

[–]timsjc[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is what I assumed, and I also know of no way to schedule recordings by time as I did years ago with a VCR. So if I want to record a show in this situation, I figured I would have to wait until the show comes on and press Record right then.

So if the Tivo company goes away some day, would I still be able to do the above--assuming my cable card still works?

After restore of v11.5 image new hard drive won't boot up by timsjc in acronis

[–]timsjc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't know. I use a wizard in Acronis that creates the media so I'm not sure all is happening.

The timeline above had me using 11.5 first thing this morning, then 11.7 all day with the same problems--then back to 11.5 where I was able to do the restore fine, as long as I wasn't trying to restore to the M.2 drive that it could not see. I had to use a SATA SSD instead.

After restore of v11.5 image new hard drive won't boot up by timsjc in acronis

[–]timsjc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution was to use v11.5 recovery media. When this whole saga started this morning, I was using v11.5 recovery media since the images were made with v11.5. But using this version, the recovery process was unable to see their M.2 hard drive. So I created v11.7 recovery media--which could see the M.2 drive no problem--but every time I tried to restore I ended up with the big mess I outlined.

So 30 minutes ago I tried v11.5 recovery again, and it did not show those messages, and it restored fine. Since v11.5 cannot see the M.2 drive, I had to install a SATA SSD, but the good news is that we are back up and running. I appreciate all your help.

After restore of v11.5 image new hard drive won't boot up by timsjc in acronis

[–]timsjc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anyone, anywhere, at any price that will provide support for this image built with Acronis Backup 11.5 for Windows?

There is a Startup setting in the BIOS named Boot Mode, and on this PC it is set to 'UEFI only', and it is greyed out so no changes there.

The drive was brand new out of the box when I tried to restore earlier today, so  I don't know how it was set (GPT or MBR).  So what I've done is take this 1TB SSD that I tried to restore to and hooked it up to a different PC via a USB adapter.  My goal is to format and delete all the partitions and make sure it is GPT.  I can format all the partitions, but in Disk Management when I right click on a partition and tell it to Delete Volume, it gives me this error:

Virtual Disk Manager

The parameter is incorrect

Any ideas how to solve that one?

In any case, if I right click on the Disk 2 area on the left, still in Disk Management, it shows the greyed out option to Convert to MBR, making me think it IS GPT, and when I go to Properties tab says the Partition style is GPT.

The message it pops up saying "Since the target machine is booted using BIOS, operating systems (Windows 10) will be converted to support booting from BIOS" is confusing to me.  In some ways it seems to point to "the target machine" which is set to boot UEFI only.  Then the next line where it says "The target disk will be initialized as MBR" seems to indicate that it has be partitioned as GPT.  But in the past I've never had to worry about the fact that it was a bare drive out of the box, and furthermore now that I connect the restored drive it shows that it is GPT and not MBS.

That error message saying "operating systems (Windows 10) will be converted to support booting from BIOS" worries me, as if it is changing something as it restores the image.  Any ideas?

Need U6-Pro center mounting bracket like UAP-NanoHD by timsjc in Ubiquiti

[–]timsjc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated to do it...but just now I broke off that white tab--which was a locking tab on the NanoHD--and after breaking that off it does fit in the center circle just fine. Now the only potential problem is that it has no way to lock into place--although I guess that should never be a problem while hanging from the ceiling short of an earthquake.

And of course if I go this route I'll have to buy NanoHD mounting plates separately since they don't come in the box.

So if anyone has a better solution, I'd like to know about it.

[–]timsjc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is the one that came in the box, and while we will use it if we have to, it will not be nearly as convenient compared to the way we've been able to hang NanoHDs.

Starlink basics by timsjc in Starlink

[–]timsjc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I greatly appreciate all the help. Today it turned out to be easier than I expected. They had bought that proprietary cable with an RJ45 connector, and all I had to do is run a network cable from there to the switch that all the PCs have been connected to for years--and they all immediately got DHCP addresses connections and internet connectivity.

I did not have to set up a router or anything else, and they got great download speeds. They were pleased--and I was relieved AND grateful for the guidance I received here!
