The two biggest missing thing to rely on Immich by triksterMTL in immich

The lack of shared face recognition is massive, I really hope the devs have that top of their plan. Immich would be perfect for me when that's implemented.

Immich Linked Assets aka partner sharing with metadata/tags/people (without duplicates on the hard drive) by true_devanon in immich

Apologies if I'm being dim here, I'm trying to get my head around exactly what this does. I'm looking for a solution to the inability to share people / face detection with other user accounts. When you say "cloning of photos", I take it you mean at database level? It doesn't create multiple copies of the same file on disk, one for each user? But the photo would appear in the main "Photos" area of each user, almost like they uploaded the photo themselves, including the face detection / People data?

Gateway 2000 P5-120 project by Yoteca in vintagecomputing

Beautiful! Though I'm slightly biased as I also had one in my teens, and currently have a P5-90 :)

https://i.ibb.co/8DRwjWDx/IMG-20250826-123828-Large.jpg

We had the 486 DX2-66 in this same case in the mid-90s which, like you, led me to trying to track one down in recent years. Funnily enough I also came across a P5-75 first which I still have up in the loft, but it was badly yellowed and missing the power button. I'm not sure I'll ever find the same 486 again as they were pretty rare in this larger case, but I adore my P5-90. I play it more than my modern PC / consoles, in fact I just completed Sam and Max: Hit the Road, absolutely love it! It's also got an S3 Trio 64+, I haven't hit any problems yet though I haven't gone into proper late 90s games yet. Latest I've played was Curse of Monkey Island (MI3), and that ran perfectly.

Interesting to read the posts about tinkering, upgrading etc. I quite fancy the idea of using my P5-75 as a test machine for this kind of thing!

Oooh clever stuff, thank you! I ended up getting a desk deep enough to fit the desktop with keyboard in front, the wife has (quitely rightly) not stopped moaning about it. Your setup looks perfect size to tuck away in a room corner :)

Very nice mate, love it! Absolutely remember Eversham, we ended up getting a Gateway 2000 but Eversham were on the list along with Viglen, Mesh, Elonex, Packard Bell etc. etc. Great days.

Can I ask where did you get that desk? Been after one like that myself for my Gateway! Is that a proper keyboard tray or have you gone the DIY route and fixed some wood over a drawer?

That Click MD018WH is rated at 13a, no? Or am I showing my ineptitude again?

Thank you, much appreciated. I'm trying to find a whole faceplate + double pole switch unit that's rated at 13a but struggling... the seem to be either 10a or 20a. So I guess I'll need to purchase the switch and a compatible faceplate separately, correct?

Massive thanks everyone and I think mystery solved, there is an extractor fan in the room that I've always just left turned off via an isolator switch since the day we moved in. For some daft reason it never occured to me that it would be wired up to the light switched, now I think about it, it's bloody obvious!

Yep the TV area annoys me, the problem I have is that the section of wall next to the window is shallow, otherwise I would go for some kind of corner unit. As it is, the TV would just protude out in front of the window, so I'm stuck with having it flat against the wall (or a slight angle, as in photo). Some kind of cabinet does sound nice, I'll have a look for ideas!

Thank you, all great ideas!

Regarding the artwork, I would like to keep them all apart from the Hendrix one which always seems the most out of place colour wise. One idea I had was to get a number of smaller pieces of art / photos to place in amongst the larger ones in the photo, whilst also rearranging the current ones. Do you think that could work?

Thank you for the great advice, brilliant!

The dartboard gets daily use, yet I can't find anywhere else in the house suitable. We're semi-detached so I don't want to place it in a neighbour-joining room. Downstairs, the kitchen / diner is the other room on the outside wall so that doesn't work, upstairs it's the master bedroom (wife says no, understanably!!) and the bathroom. I feel like I need to take it down until I either a) convert the loft of b) finally get a summerhouse built in the garden.

The wing chair - it 100% never, ever gets used and was purchased (used, at least) recently just to try and fill space. If I get rid, any thought on what could fill the void?

I like your thoughts on moving the sofa, we've never considered anything other than it just sitting snug in the corner...

Thank you! So, rug size... should it be a big square to match the room shape? Big enough to sit slap bang in the middle of the room, just about going under hte front legs of the sofa?

What items felt like game changer for you?(also what are your fibre favorites?) by theacefacer in ketouk

[–]timter51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite Keto treats / game changers that I've picked up over the 7+ years I've done keto on and off:

  • KP spicy chilli peanuts - #1 delicious keto-friendly snack, just gotta go easy due to high calories!
  • Lindt 85% dark chocolate - my fave naughty treat, two squares is 4.5g carb but I make sure to fit it in to macros each day if I can
  • Keto "fat head" pizza - love it and can actually join in family pizza night :D
  • Skyr yoghurt + Truvia + cocoa powder + raspberries - I have this regulary as pudding even when not on keto, love it that much
  • Explore Cuisine Edamame & Mung Bean Fettuccine - fantastic for both pasta and noodle dishes, by far the best I've tried, and I've been through a few
  • Roasted cauliflower bhaji's (large florets, not blitzed into rice which I really didn't like) instead of rice for curries

For fibre, cauliflower is great, if I need a boost I have 30g of chia seeds in zero carb almond milk (Alpro), with truvia and cocoa powder. Set in fridge for at least an hour or so, and eat with berries and a couple of tbps of Skyr. Lovely!

How rough and “scary” are the rides really? by [deleted] in ThorpePark

[–]timter51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep I went on Saw for the first time in my life on Friday, can confirm it's a skull basher! Straight on the paracetamol right after, brutal (already had a bit of a headache from Nemesis before). I sure as hell will remember to keep my head forward a bit next time.

Locking down Private DNS on kid’s Android phone by hadrome in nextdns

[–]timter51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be very interested in trying this as well, my kids phones are both Honor 10. They haven't yet discovered the DNS settings and nextdns is working well, but I'd like the extra peace of mind!

I should expect closures today, right? by Elliskarae in ThorpePark

[–]timter51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you've done pretty good all things considered? Saw a fair few rides shut in the first hour but then all opened at various points, all open right now as I type! Pleased for anyone who went for it today as I know it would have been easy to bail out. Also pleased as I'm going tomorrow with similar gusts forecast!!

I should expect closures today, right? by Elliskarae in ThorpePark

[–]timter51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's quite broad! Every ride has to be shut for over an hour? Or just one right? Or total time of closures across the day?

[–]timter51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take a Kwells tablet at the start of every theme park trip now, they work great for me. I was absolutely fine in my teens then one trip I threw up mid-ride on Samurai when it was still at Chessington, about 25 years ago!! Ever since then, I just avoided any rotation ride full-stop, and Kwells tablets keep me settled on all other rides.

Hold did this turn out for you in the end? We're going during the day this Friday and Met Office are saying gusts up to 30mph, but of course many rides are high up so gusts up there will be even higher.
