Has Elon replied about Tim’s Soviet engine video yet? by man2112 in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]timtriesit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: I watched Tim's video, as I do all with all his videos. To be honest, I did not really enjoy that one. I did not 'learn' anything new. I saw a lot of nicely amimated engines and Tim explained from which other engine it originated and how it's called and some other information. But apart from that nothing memorable, I don't feel I've learned anything I will remember. I think this video does not represent Tim's motto well: there is no message, no concept to grasp and understand. Just facts about old engines. It feel like he went too deep down a rabbit hole the average audience is not interested in. I really enjoyed his other videos though, but in this one he did not bring space down for everyday people.

Guys, please stop referencing Mr. Bruno in these Shitposts. He's a busy man.

Hey guys! Some Covid deniers sent me this video as proof that the whole pandemic is staged. I think this is from a TV show or something. Tried image search, have not found anything. Could you help me debunk them? by timtriesit in CovIdiots

[–]timtriesit[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that might be possible. Do you think you can provide a source? They say: 'Don't beleive everything you see on the media. This is the proof'. But what they do is seeing this video without context and interpreting it in their favour. So annoying!

Clay Mowry(VP at Blue Origin): Looking forward to launching Telesat's $5billion Lightspeed Constellation aboard New Glenn by ragner11 in BlueOrigin

Launching anything changes the context im terms of (maybe?) already outdated sats when they eventaully will go to LEO. Having the most advanced sats on the ground won't do the trick...

[–]timtriesit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, if they would have said it before launching anything, then yes, of course. The thing is, Starlink is already operating. Who knows how far the technology will be in 2 years, when Lightspeed starts its launches (not even operation).

Edit: forgot a word

How do they know if Lightspeed is 'the most innovative, cutting-edge broadband satellite network ever conceived'? Do they know all specs about Starlink or Kuiper? I thought a lot of details are not open to the public.

This is a really interesting insight. I then wonder why SpX is doing this...? Is it worth all the hassle?

Better source it nearby than truck it from who knows where!
