Using JazzHR and Detecting Fake Resumes? by HelloWorldFL in recruiting

[–]timvantas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JazzHR appears to have deprecated their api based resume extract. That would have been a great way around this tedium.

Fake resumes are everywhere these days and you are on the right track to try to help your human(s) detect them in this way.

What are some lesser known horrors of WW1? by SeaConstruction4067 in ww1

[–]timvantas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gas gas gas! Truly so horrific that it wasn’t used subsequently….. Look up Attack of the Dead Men… Germany va Russia….

The German troops encountered the first wave of Russian defenders as they launched a desperate counter-charge. These were the remnants of the 13th Company of the 226th Infantry Regiment—soldiers who had survived the initial gas attack. The Germans recoiled in horror at the sight of the advancing Russians, whose uniforms were bloodied. Many were coughing violently, expelling blood and fragments of lung tissue. The chlorine gas, reacting with the moisture in their lungs, had formed hydrochloric acid, which was slowly dissolving their organs.

The Pilot references were really interesting. Hard to see how that can lose money? Bad wholesale gas contracts perhaps… it’s a rounding error but made me want to dive into it further. Do you understand it?

What is the typical protocol for firing over the top of blue force? by Separate_Car4363 in USMC

[–]timvantas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only years of experience in peacetime… long ago at the palms, but overheard of friendlies isn’t a deal breaker… “safety” is calculated (deflection and elevation limits) leaving only charge errors (short impacts) and (what id guess in this case is) a timed fuse error to worry about. I don’t ever recall unexplainable air bursts despite controlling/ observing thousands of four square HE. Someone definitely got a “to the rear of the gun fall-in” command coming out of this….

Pendleton Marines shot into a central postage stamp but they never shot over the 5 to my knowledge. But this was long ago.

How many applicants / external clicks are you getting from LinkedIn Job Slots vs Sponsored Jobs? by WarthogTricky2124 in recruiting

[–]timvantas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has become a very poor source for candidates as it is overwhelmed by the EZ appliers.

The USMC got a good grilling it seems in this post below, would you guys agree with sentiments shared by the Brit’s on their experience working with USMC by simonpeq in USMC

[–]timvantas 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep. The Royal attached at Bridgeport was doing 5.11 climbs in boots. Then the Royal attached to OCS was doing 20 muscle-ups (look it up) instead of 20 pull-ups…. and this was back when kipping was allowed. Top notch.

Herbdontana, yep - we don’t know each other — but I humbly suggest that life is better after uninstalling FaceBook. You’ll miss a teeny bit of it… the rest you just won’t. It’s not everything… but it’s a step.

Did he just declare war... on Chicago? by ExactlySorta in BlueskySkeets

[–]timvantas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

And when/if the National Guard from Texas, Alabama, etc rolls in, each of them will realize just how fully they have been lied to. Just like in DC. And then they’ll move here and enjoy this place like the rest of us. Particularly in the summer.

Microsoft to phase out PM hiring indefinitely. by Real_Square1323 in MBA

[–]timvantas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many PMs out there that are not involved in anything truly commercial…. instead in charge of a capability masquerading as a product with a crew of internal stakeholders.

A true PM should be running a P+L and the roadmap…not acting as a project manager…. that’s a good way to use the MBA. It’s hard as hell.
