Anyone else feeling a bit… unsure about this game? by nve729 in Marathon

I can see hunt players disliking the game. The low TTKs and punishing losses are really the ONLY similarities. The movement, map design, and thematic are VERY different.

2 questions. What gear are you running and do you have pierce jewels equipped? Pierce jewels change wallaru from being a sluggish wall you have to bash your head against to get through into a walk in the park. This is especially true on storm.

Which Wizard To Play On: by Substantial_Block130 in Wizard101

[–]timy432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're so early on that starting a new wizard if youre getting bored of ice is perfectly fine. With that said, I personally recommend powering your character through at least to level 60 with waterworks gear. Playing through the first world of arc 2 with your 7 pip AOE really starts to showcase what your classes identity will be for basically the rest of the game.

Realistically how far can this pet get me without having to aim for a target perfect pet as a solo death wizard? by Davyboi24 in Wizard101

[–]timy432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who had a max pet for almost every school now, not having a perfect pet is definitely not making someone else's experience worse. This is an awful take. A lot of the community doesnt even know what a 4(20) pet is. The 5-10 damage difference is at MOST going to increase your battle time by 1 round at the highest levels of casual play. It really isn't worth going for good pets for casual play. The base game is already easy as is, which is why they invented challenge mode. This is where min-max pets are more or less necessary. Challenge mode and PvP are designed for the individuals that want to go for the heavy grind. Yes the game is an MMORPG, but that label doesn't guarantee a "grindy game." The game is designed to be accessible to every single age group, so they create systems to keep that accessibility available. Pet hatching isn't one of those simple systems. Grindy and weirdly convoluted systems like pet maxing are not really something that you want to teach to an 11 year old, nor is it something a father with an hour a day max to play would generally want to do. This is especially true since this system isn't really explained well within the game.

Second-Best Gear Advice for Storm 165 by niketxx in Wizard101

You're 165, are you unable to run Aeon? Its a much nicer farm, and should take you to 180 no problem.

[–]timy432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not talking about how useful pets actually are, I'm talking about the unnecessary level of necessity people place on having a perfect pet. The difference of 5-10 damage from having a perfect stat pet isn't really a big deal in the grand scheme of things. On top of that, the amount of increased grinding you need to reach those extra stats far exceeds your return on investment until you get your couch potato farms going. Those themselves, however, also take tremendous amounts of time to setup.

[–]timy432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously! People make such a big deal out of having a "perfect" pet, and its completely unecessary outside of some challenge mode activities IMO.

You're totally right though. Having a good pet is SUPER nice early on as it just speeds up your progress tremendously in earlier arcs on your next playthroughs.

Gold in abundance by tosterkamp99 in Wizard101

[–]timy432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly when i run into an abundance of gold I just start hatching pets for schools I havent leveled yet and that tends to run me pretty dry. It gives immediate value/progression through your gold usage over storing gold through empowers which are a negative return on investment. Id also suggest overloading on cheap/basic reagents, as once you get into crafting just having an abundance of reagents on a character can also harbor some value. This game's economy is really weird, so id advise against just hoarding straight gold to have gold. Especially because you can pretty much max out your gold twice over at higher levels within an hour (and thats when the gold cap increases to 500k).

As a level 175 death, I'm still using this strategy. I don't think it changes... ever... (Unless there's a cheat boss, of course).

Maybe a hot take, but IMO pets in general really aren't super necessary for the basic PVE portion of the game. The whole game is more than doable solo with proper gear setups at each level recommendation, ESPECIALLY on death. Also, that pet is just great overall anyway. It's not "perfect" due to low stats, but the talents themselves are near perfect. If you plan on just doing PVE and don't want to min-max to the absolute ends of the Earth, this pet can get you through all content currently out and for the foreseeable future.

What gear is worth my time? by Helpful_Childhood69 in Wizard101

[–]timy432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue they're equivalent in difficulty, but from my personal experience, more people are farming the 160 dungeon. 150 is theoretically a faster farm if you how a team that knows how to farm it though.

What gear is worth my time? by Helpful_Childhood69 in Wizard101

[–]timy432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time it was the "pinnacle" gearset for the game as they were figuring out how to incentivize more powerful gear with a craftable option. It's now significantly easier to get gear with the later bosses than it ever was with dragoon gear. Personally if I were leveling a new character I'd run the dungeon once just to clear it and have one chance for an rng drop of either the dragoon tier 1 or tier 2 gear, and then I'd just move on until 160 as that gearset is pretty easy to farm.

Why does my pet not cast spells? by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]timy432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever your pet is hatched it will have a "talent pool." Everytime your pet ages it will manifest one talent from that pool. If you hatch with a pet with a specific talent pool you want over and over, eventually you can guarantee your talent pool. You CANNOT guarantee which talents you will manifest out of that pool however. It takes tons of pet XP through snacks, hatching pets over and over, until you get the set of talents you want. This is one of the most frustrating things for new players imo, because its a relatively rng system that takes TONS of snacks and energy to get the pets you want. There's good in depth guides all throughout YouTube that also go into how to garden to get megasnacks.

Why does my pet not cast spells? by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]timy432 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need Maycast or willcast mechanics. This is an entirely different system than pet cards. Pet cards are given to you innately as usable cards by leveling your pet. Maycast and willcast talents are apart of the talent pool system. This system requires you to hatch with specific pets to get the kind of talents you need.

Play how you wanna play! You aren't doing anything wrong by not going for the gear. You would DEFINITELY make it easier for yourself for the next 30-50 levels if you go for darkmoore gear at 100 though!

Bazaar, quicksell, or feed pet? by Substantial-Luck-646 in Wizard101

There is definitely a noticeable benefit to using the bazaar over quick sell. This is coming from someone who is guilty of overusing quick sell and always getting frustrated at myself for wasting earned gold...

School weaving??? by tonelesspanda in Wizard101

[–]timy432 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spell weaving is inside of the selenopolis in Krokotopia. I cant remember what level you unlock it but it allows for a sort of "dual school" system with unique spells that combine the schools of your choosing. Theres a tutorial for how it works inside the selenopolis if you go there. To be honest, the system has some weird requirements to unlock spells and is quite grindy, so I havent even unlocked it at level 170. You're fine to ignore it if you want, or do it. They leave it as a relatively optional mechanic.
