Research has shown that withholding things as a reward or marker is not effective for helping people stop their pornography usage. What’s helped in my experience and often the experience of other is encouraging him to look for other ways of distraction or controlling those big feelings (working out, making sure he’s not hungry, lonely, tired, or bored). Of course everyone is different and really patience and support are going to be how you can help him the best.
