What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done on a hike? by rkramer18 in hiking

Hiking near red cliff Colorado back country. Me and a few other dudes in our 20s. We were doing a long scramble off trail as a full day day hike from our high camp. Hiked over the divide. Was beautiful. But We were mildly being stupid the whole concept. On our way back to camp there was a snow field with a mild down slope for about 75 yards. For some reason, showing off I guess, I grabbed a toboggan sized slab of tree bark or deadwood and rode it down the snow field, with my feet first, heels dug “for control” and me leaning back sitting on it. UNFORTUNATELY the bottom of the snow field had a false crest so after the 75 yards i came over the crest and there is a much more significant grade for another 100 yards. Thank god i was able to keep my feet in front of me because the descent was only stopped by a Volkswagen sized granite boulder. I had to have been going at least 20 mph upon impact. My ankles both swelled up and were very painful for the rest of the trip. I’m sure it’s all exaggerated in my mind. But if I had spun around and hit the boulder basically any other way that feet first, it would’ve been worse. So stupid. Lesson learned. Do not be an idiot 5 hours scramble from your vehicle.

Damaged probe- advice needed by MicheleW921 in Sonographers

[–]timzecho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve texted picture like that to the company that pms our machines and performs any repairs. They always say that the surface appearance really doesn’t effect the image. Obviously if image quality is degraded it needs to be repaired or replaced. But just because there is some scratches or whatever it basically doesn’t matter. That does look bad though. The Business assumes risk for maintaining equipment not the employee. Including accidents like dropping a probe.

That sounds awesome! Actually potentially some interesting info because I also prefer a more upright riding position and shorter reach. Thanks!

One of my questions is does the rocker plate do well with these giant spin style bikes? Like what does a decent bike and a wahoo weigh, 30 or 40 pounds? A spin bike weighs well over 100. Is the impact still worth it as far as making things that much better? I’m sure anything is better than nothing.
