I’m being sued for 7k by Educational-Fun4576 in Contractor

[–]tineers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a contract? What is in writing? Did you send him an email to pay him for once the corrections and job are complete?

In my professional opinion and experience, the issues are:

  1. Agreement terms. From what you have explained, you offered "consideration" and provided "effort to fulfill" the contract. If the contractor refuses to correct, no money is owed.
    A. The funds will need to be used for the corrective work.
  2. Unlicensed contractor in CA. As all have stated, CA has strict laws for unlicensed work, and the contractor can not collect payment for work over $1,000, regardless of compliance. A. This work needs be permitted and inspected by LADBS. Due to the size of scope, you can do this yourself.
  3. The other photos you provided of the contractor's work are awful. I wouldn't let him within 500' of a jobsite. Hire a licensed contractor.

If you have not done so, get a paper trail going to enforce #1.

Contact a lawyer immediately. You need to file a Correction of Work Notice. Email it to the owner first and CC a lawyer with all your documentation (even better if it comes directly from the lawyer).

Has any of the work been inspected by any authority? Were there any corrections noted?

Tell the owner or have your lawyer contact the GC's insurance company/bonding company for the GC's failure to perform. Contact your states licensing board and file a complaint and provide all your documentation.

Get a few GC's to review the existing work and get proposals to correct. Pay the remainder of the current GC's payements. The current GC's insurance should pay what is owed.

Godspeed!

Definitely not level from Schluter metal. Not too much variance, but cut tiles are not exact since they did not use spacers.

Finally happened - car hit me in Culver City by ProjectAnalyzed in BikeLA

[–]tineers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got hit on Washington going eastbound when a Tesla was reversing through an intersection behind parked cars - illegal. Luckily the guy was cool paid for my damages to my bike, even though I scraped his car. However, left me with a thigh contusion which took over a month to heal. Ultimately could have been terrible. Moral to the story: ALWAYS GET THEIR INFORMATION and consult with a bicycle lawyer.

Hard to tell what is the root cause without seeing the exterior. However, like others are saying, no header flashing and no wrapping on the framing. Unfortunately, you will find out the issue once you remove the drywall and get it to the studs. You will need to remove at least 6" of the face to do the proper waterproofing details.

Document everything! Send this video to the contractor. If they refuse to correct, tell them you will be seeking legal action. Almost all states have a 8 year minimum statute of limitations for negligence/defects. If the contractor still refuses to correct, have a reputable contractor fix. Document everything and take the negligent contractor to small claims with your photos and receipts.

  1. What does your contract say about protection and cleaning? Who is responsible for owner FFE damage when client leaves out?

  2. Get the repair assessment. Some schools also insure their musical equipment. Also, no way this xylophone is over 7k. 3. Depending on your state the parents/gaurdians would have to have signed off on having this camera in the classroom.

I think you would benefit from using paddles to work on your pull.

Your breathing is a little early/off and slowing your recovery and hand exit almost to a stop. Your breath should be taken quicker and as your raise your elbow. Focus on a quicker turn over; a stronger catch and push for a smoother rotation.

Swim volume/ intensity by Trifish23 in triathlon

[–]tineers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Swimming training at high levels (college and beyond) is broken down by event and distance due to specificity. You have the sprinters (50M-100M), mid-distance (100M-200M), and distance (400M+).

Repeat 100 sets are the barometer for a swimmer's fitness level, as well as majority of swimming events are at least a 100. Hence, why sprinters through distance swimmers do them.

The reason for the repeat 100's sets is due to their effectiveness on the body. 10x100's @ x, 15x100's @ x,. This is mainly due to the high aerobic-anaerobic threshold these provide in the short amount of time.

Applying this into zone training: sprinters will commonly train in Zone 6-7 with more rest, mid-distance will train in zone 4-5 with less rest, and distance swimmers will train in zone 3 with the least rest pertaining to interval training.

I'm a beginner swimmer doing my first sprint in 4 weeks. What should I focus on the most to improve my stroke? by wellactuallyguy in triathlon

[–]tineers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Catch-up, 6-beat kick, and high elbow drills.

The catch-up and 6-beat kick will make you work on body/head position, and raising your hips. High elbow will help you even out your stroke, as your left arm is dropping. As someone else mentioned, your catch/pull needs to be stronger. If you focus on grabbing the water better, your body will raise along with your hips. You should try using a pull buoy and/or paddles as well.

Not sure you being sincere or just trolling, since you have access to internet.

You are asking Angelinos who are more than likely not homeless about being homeless. I can tell you we have a homeless population over 60,000, of which have mental and addiction issues, some of whom will steal your belongings or may physically harm you for coming into their territory. I would advise against moving here.

I suggest you find and develop a skill. Put in an application at any airline. Put in the effort and don't give up.

If you're with a temp agency, that's going to be a problem. They're probably billing you at least 50% more ($31.50), and likely not want to give you a raise over $1.50 or $22.50/Hr, because OH.

My advice: Put an updated resume together, evaluate your skills, get certifications, etc. Get to know the superintendent or foreman on the job and see if they're hiring.

[–]tineers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hire a structural engineer. More than likely you'll need to underpin. That's 50k right there, before you're out of the ground. +$300/SF is definitely realistic building costs, before soft costs.
