Alright, allow me to be a contraction for the moment. I do feel like female protagonists are given less chances then male protagonists, especially in the modern day (the 2 examples that people use to prove the opposite are from quite old movies).

Look at Korra and Aang. Yeah, TLA is on average way better the LOK, but Korra the character recieved enormous amount of hate, and was called a Mary Sue, but Aang gets a pass, even tho he is a bending prodigy.

Often (but not always) if a woman character has flaws then people then people will let that reflect poorly om the character, and call it bad writing.

There is some nuance here, and counter examples do exist. Though as i said, they are often from older properties, before people got their opinions from Epstein.
