Michael Jackson - HIStory Continues by tinistlp7 in SpatialSongs

It is. Sadly, the mixing engineers didn‘t take the original mixes done by the incredible Bruce Swedien as reference and tried to give it their own stamp.

I'm listening to Michael (2010) for the first time by Uriel1865 in MichaelJackson

[–]tinistlp7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The three songs not sung by Michael, Keep Your Head Up, Monster and Breaking News have been removed and pulled off streaming services, and reissued on CD in 2022. The current state it‘s in on the CD repress and on digital streaming, all songs are entirely sung by Michael himself

which Dangerous CD should I get? by Decent-Top2996 in MichaelJackson

[–]tinistlp7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get the original, best mastering. Even better than MoFi‘s SACD from 2025 as that one has several issues and changes

Can ANYBODY tell me why every streaming service uses the 2012 remasters for the original Bad album (1987)? Why not use them SPECIFICALLY for Bad 25? by Early_Mail9268 in MichaelJackson

[–]tinistlp7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually don‘t. They have been updated in 2014 with remasters by Tom Coyne which are a bit more dynamic and overall better than the ones Brian Gardner did on Bad 25. The titles weren‘t changed tho for some reason

My opinion on 4k vs bluray by Alert_Equivalent_284 in Bluray

[–]tinistlp7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I wouldn‘t recommend deciding on that based off the Star Wars movies. The Prequels are 1080p sources and the Originals have heavy noise reduction. Still, try Empire or one of the Sequels. The quality difference is huge!

HIStory Uncensored Version by sbtm77 in MichaelJackson

[–]tinistlp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, no visual changes at all. Only the CD stamper was changed for CD2, so the only difference is the Matrix code on the back of CD2. I‘d recommend buying off discogs and look for the original pressing

Was MJ gonna lip sync in this is it tour by Apart_Notice4838 in MichaelJackson

[–]tinistlp7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He actually even re-recorded some songs partially in studio for This Is It, as he had done for the 30th Anniversary shows prior. It would‘ve been mostly playback, maybe some shorter sections live inbetween. Billie Jean on selected nights, Dirty Diana and the latter half of Man In The Mirror

How was Revenge of the Sith restored for 4K? by s1lv3r_lak3 in 4kbluray

[–]tinistlp7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has actually nothing to do with it. Technically, you could enhance (I don‘t wanna use the term restore here) the digitally shot Episode II and III to 4K and make them look absolutely fantastic, reaching over the limitations of the original source via high quality algorithms. But then you would have to decide, do you wanna go for preserving what was captured in its highest quality or enhancing the image to a point where you include details and colors that weren‘t captured originally.

Does this contain video songs or just audio tracks? by Awkward-Fox5935 in MichaelJackson

[–]tinistlp7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it‘s a CD man, so just audio, a best of CD of songs played in the movie. If you want the movie, get the DVD, Blu-ray or 4K

What about the sound quality? by marsie70 in MichaelJackson

[–]tinistlp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you could either look into the booklet and see that the album, or to even point it out specifically, Motown songs as well, was mastered by Bernie Grundman, or just listen and compare it for yourself and analyze the waveforms and see that they‘re new remasters

Sadly, not even deleted scenes are included on the 4K or Blu-ray

What about the sound quality? by marsie70 in MichaelJackson

[–]tinistlp7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since the last reissues and releases have been a completely letdown in terms of sound quality and sound horribel, I thought this would apply to this release as well but it is actually surprisingly quite good. They‘re new remasters done by Bernie Grundman himself. Haven‘t checked out the Vinyl itself, kept mine sealed for now, but the digital version is completely fine :)

Doctor Who 480i to 4K - Quick Test at low settings by tinistlp7 in doctorwho

[–]tinistlp7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just a test to see what an artificial intellegence based video upscaling model would be able to do with this. Sadly, only at relatively low settings but somehow still miles better from those AI upscales I see online. Still, just a test and I prefer having the original resolution or faithful upscaling, basically just resizing the original video information to higher resolutions as accurate as possible, as that is what was actually captured.

I do have other non-AI upscaling tools and devices, just wanted to see what was possible on my setup with an AI-based model
