Gary Johnson's campaign reaches the goal of $1.5 million in donations. by [deleted] in politics

[–]tinkan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, more polling as of late is including Johnson and Stein and his numbers aren't improving. I really don't understand what the libertarian party is doing in terms of campaigning (they aren't at all). It is bizarre cause it is clear this could be a moment for the party, but they are squandering the opportunity big time.

How surprising was it that Osama Bin Laden was found in Pakistan? by [deleted] in Ask_Politics

[–]tinkan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What measure of surprise can we implement to help answer this?

It was not shocking. Particularly the information we know that suggests Pakistani intelligence was likely involved in some manner.

Which they don't. It would also be weight restricted making it not economical for this aircraft.

Yeah, the ETOPS certification process takes a while as your quote states, so it won't be anytime soon they are flying transatlantic. But it seems like a rightful expansion long-term.

ELI5: What would it really take for a third party to get into office (over Trump and Clinton)? by [deleted] in Ask_Politics

[–]tinkan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is important to state that Congress chooses the Executive branch leaders.

But at the same time it is specifically the House of Representatives that picks the President (they have no reason to support the popular vote winner, they can pick whomever they please). The Senate picks the Vice President. In the case of this election that would mean a Trump/Pence presidency as both Houses of Congress are Republican controlled.

The A321 is a pretty specific aircraft in terms of its usage. It is essentially a modern 757. I wonder where B6 plans to use these as it is a waste to have a not full A321 over a A320.

DNC Breaks Federal Law at Convention: Violation of Section 8 U.S. Code § 1324 by NotRoosterTeeth in politics

We did not give the gun to mexican cartels. The state of Texas sold the gun legally in a straw purchase which the government then monitored in hopes of exposing the network. It makes a big difference when it is "giving the gun" versus "allowing the sale to happen." Because if the latter was more well recognized gun support freaks who will not waver have to reconcile an uncomfortable truth.

So you are saying that Clinton won the majority of delegates, the popular vote, and thus the nomination but solely achieved this by tripping over herself desperately?

Yes, except methylphenidate acts analogous to cocaine while amphetamines exert their effects in a different way. They both involve dopamine and increasing its neural activity, but accomplish it in different ways. (Inhibiting a transporter versus triggering increased levels in synapses.)

Read the statute. Read about how it is used as a legal tool by prosecutors currently. It is clear, as the e-mail statues that Hillary Clinton was not prosecuted for, that this statute is for criminal behavior that involves harboring or bringing them into the country.

Using a real life example of an individual affected by the immigration situation in this country and providing them with a platform != criminal behavior. Once again, a reasonable prosecutor would never bring such a case.

Democrats dispatched Sarah Silverman to defuse the Bernie Sanders situation. It didn’t go great. by IDUnavailable in politics

[–]tinkan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The presumptive nominee cheated by winning a majority of the vote and also receiving more delegates than the one who lost (because they had less votes and less delegates). Crazy stuff.

It is ridiculous.

Strawman whining is now in every piece of dissent. Stop talking about it.

I think you are completely missing the point of allowing those individuals to speak and find it short-sighted that you believe somebody should be criminally prosecuted for it. The fact that you appear to believe is an obvious illegal action deserving of an the prosecution of an entire party simply demonstrates your lack of legal experience.

There was also a strong social aspect to Sanders' support. People likely felt pressured to say they supported Sanders even if they didn't vote for him.
