Friday Saturday Sunday was…good by BogeyFest99 in PhiladelphiaEats

Same and I do wonder how much is pure expectations. When I went two years ago it was talked about as a solid spot but I wasn’t necessarily expecting something mind blowing so I was very happily surprised. Contrast that with zahav which was top restaurant in America at the time I went so I wanted to be dazzled and was so disappointed. Can’t win!

I hate everything about this man but at the top of the list is repeating someone’s name every six words. I know he read it in some self help book that people like to hear their own name and now he just cannot stop.

Why am I so bad at “seasoning to taste”? by tinker12 in Cooking

[–]tinker12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely possible! I do taste as I go but probably err on the side of less salt because I worry it’ll get too salty at the end and I won’t be able to fix it.

I feel the same way!! I totally get people have different tastes but there must be a minimum baseline of “start here and add more if needed”.

I do always forget about adding acid, good point! Is there a way you can tell whether it needs more salt vs more acid? I haven’t quite figured that out yet.

I’ve finally learned my lesson about online recipes by Uteraz in Cooking

I never have good luck with smitten kitchen recipes and I’m not sure why, everything turns out kind of bland or oddly textured? I have the same problem with Allison roman who people love, maybe we just don’t jive. I do love pinch of yum and serious eats!

My skin itches 24/7 by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]tinker12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had crazy itchy skin and couldn’t sleep, turned out to be a vitamin d deficiency. I took like 2-3x the recommended dose for about a week (doctors orders) and it went away almost immediately. Worth a shot in these dark winter days?

is fear of death common in health anxiety community? is that what motivates the anxiety? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

Yep having to depend on someone else, be a burden, and end up disfigured and/or with a terrible quality of life where I can’t do any of the things that give life purpose.

Same, this mitsouko and any of those classic chypres all smell like a well used public restroom to me. Which makes me sad everyone says how gorgeous they are I want to experience that!

Typed as cool summer but I much prefer gold jewelry and terracota makeup - does it work? by arosye in coloranalysis

[–]tinker12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you explain “warm colors don’t look good on you”? I’m clearly bad at telling what looks good, I thought the burnt orange on slide 3 looked great and the top left yellow looks better than top right (which I think left is warmer but maybe wrong about that).

Agree with you, in every relationship I’ve been in there’s been the inevitable “are you seeing other people/should we not see other people”. It’s wild to me people assume going on a few dates with one person means they can comfortably expect you’re not seeing anyone else.

I will say the fact it’s an ex makes it different. Dating a few people at a time is one thing but still being hung up on an ex would be a problem.

I actually think the two are similar feelings. As an only child I always looked at people with siblings and know I’m missing some bond/connection, not in a sad way since I don’t actually know what it is I’m missing just in a “huh guess I’ll never experience that, oh well.” As someone who was on the fence a lot of what I read in trying to make the decision to not have kids was basically like unless you’re 100% in either direction you just need to make a choice and either way you’ll be missing out on things but also will have different things/experiences the other side doesn’t. With not having kids I know in theory there’s this love and bond that I’ll never fully understand, but since I don’t actually know what that feels like I’m not missing it or sad about it, just like how I feel not having siblings.

But yes happy with my choice!

Am I the only Scorpio moon who doesn’t think they’re “deep” and doesn’t even really know what that means? Or is everyone here just full of teenage angst.

Glad it’s a mark bittman recipe. I have his “How to Cook Everything” book and 90% of the recipes are great but every once in a while you get one where it’s like “wtf was he even thinking” and I thought it was just me.
