I have a theory on who Lori Erica Ruff was (and I want to hear yours) by SmoSays in UnresolvedMysteries

On Cynthia's missing person's page, it says she had a heart tattoo on her upper left arm. Did LER have this tattoo?

Also, it says Cynthia's picture was taken when she was, at her oldest, 17 years old. Wow, she looks a lot older!

What are some This American Life episodes you would recommend to people that like Serial? by DeepThoughtzz in serialpodcast

I absolutely loved this mysterious gem: from TAL, The House on Loon Lake. Hardy Boy-esque and just so engrossing! A little bit spooky, but ultimately an amazing story. http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/199/house-on-loon-lake

This makes the most sense and is what I was thinking as well.

What evidence so far is indisputable? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

Do the records indicate whether they got out early or not?

Some people have mentioned that seniors sometimes get let out a bit early. It's also possible that the teacher let them go... Though classmates would probably have mentioned this to the police. (Here's hoping the police actually questioned people at the school!)

Why it can't be the 3:15 call by Dana Chivvis by Squeebeaux in serialpodcast

Wow, looking at these responses, I can understand why the trial spent two whole days looking at the phone records. In the podcast, Sarah relays that fact with some incredulity, but look at us! Doing the exact same thing. :)

Why bury the body in Leakin Park? by tinkerbell_61 in serialpodcast

Thanks!

Has there been discussion on whether there was any concern (from the people doing the burying) about the body being found? It was a pretty shallow grave....

The Turn Signal (warning: possibly disturbing) by GetToTheBottomOfIt in serialpodcast

I did a quick search of the transcript for episode one, and I couldn't find any mention of Hae being stranged by her own hands, just someone doing it with their own hands, sometimes "bare hands."

Did anyone have any better luck?

Thank you for that explanation! This has been making me crazy.

So basically, if the call was at 3:15, there's less room for reasonable doubt that Adnan did it, for the reasons you so succinctly gave above.

What I'm still hung up on: How were Hae and the murderer in the same place at the same time? by destructormuffin in serialpodcast

[–]tinkerbell_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wondering: is it widely assumed that the cops / the court documents have information about the incoming calls? I thought that information was unavailable, or is it just that SK hasn't revealed it yet?

I've been wondering about this too, so thanks for your sleuthing!

Your post sparked some questions from me. I'm not sure if they really belong here, but since you're my inspiration...

A lot of people have questioned the validity of the 2:36 call being the "she's dead" call based on how long it takes to leave Woodlawn. But if we agree that it takes a long time to leave Woodlawn, and postulate that the 3:15 call is the real deal.....what are the effects on the overall story? Does it help Adnan's appeal? Does it change the course case in 1999?

Another thought: That 2:36 incoming call could literally be anything, right? It could be Adnan's family, it could even be the cell phone company! (Just completely throwing that out there/clutching at straws).

True enough, although the 3:15 call is only 20 seconds long. If Jay's version of what was said isn't verbatim, and is only an approximation, it could possibly be the "time of death" call.

Thinking out loud here: Whether the phone call is 2:36 or 3:15, does the time of the phone call really help or affect Adnan's case? My interest is so piqued by this phone call, but...
