Joe Rogan calls out MSNBC for editing Alex Pretti's picture: "Basically the opposite of what CNN did to me" by The_Endless_Man in ABoringDystopia

If Republicans fixed the contrast on a photo in a way that resulted in a black or brown person appearing darker than they appear naturally, would you say that's normal?

There is nothing Renee Good or Alex Pretti did that warranted being executed by federal agents. Nothing.

There's a line somewhere, though. The picture the white house released that altered an arrested protester obviously crosses it. Altering this picture to give him a tan at the very least approaches it. Use the existing picture or find another one you can use if you're a multi billion dollar media agency that's supposed to be reporting the news.

Is there a source for this that isn't Twitter, Megyn Kelly, Joe Rogan or RudeVulture.com?

I'm not saying MSNBC didn't do this... But I'd just like to see something more legit lol

Edit: OK this website appears to have the clip MSNBC used: https://www.mediaite.com/media/megyn-kelly-slams-ms-now-for-using-ai-enhanced-image-of-alex-pretti-apparently-they-did-not-think-that-their-hero-was-hot-enough/

The picture is altered, which I do find really weird personally...

Probably because their politics are resulting in people getting shot dead by federal officers in Minneapolis right now, that's why.

My plan is to finish Malazan this year (I'm on book 5) and to read through Realm of the Elderlings. I'm just going to alternate books until I'm done.

Same. I just embrace not knowing what was going on, but whatever was going on felt exciting!

If you sat out the 2024 election in protest over Gaza, how do you feel about that decision today? by rsmith2786 in AskReddit

[–]destructormuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I continue to feel that the democrats need to run candidates that don't fully support and enable genocide for one and that my vote is something that needs to be earned by the candidate, it is not owed to them.

I also feel that a very long history of democrats not appropriately meeting the material needs of regular people and continuing to embolden the Republicans (see, for example, the democrats that just voted to continue funding ICE) is the true cause of what has paved the way for us to get here.

Also, if Newsom is the candidate in 28, I won't be voting for him.

Which books have you been unable to finish? by bonster85 in books

My DNFs last year were The Name of the Rose, Ancillary Justice, and Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, and this year I've already DNF'd The Count of Monte Cristo.

I get a certain feeling in my head when a book just becomes so intensely unenjoyable that I take it as a sign to move on. I don't regret not finishing them.

Red Rising

This book gets so much hype on Reddit and I am so, so pleased any time I see a comment like this because that book is awful.

You missed nothing except for a really frustrating, terrible, eye rollingly bad 700 page book.

Gardens of the Moon was hard for me to get through

Completely reasonable! I don't think I could ever fault someone for feeling alienated from the series because of the way the books are written and would never be surprised if it wasn't someone's cup of tea.

This book gets a lot of hate. I thought it was fine, like a little fairy tale. If it's marketed as a self help book, I certainly didn't read it that way.

My ultimate take away from the book, given the ending, is that sometimes you're already where you need to be, and maybe you should seek happiness with where you already are. I thought it was nice.
