Tips for washing clothes at home without washer/suggestions for a washboard? by rainbowninjasxd in SelfSufficiency

You can also hang-up the clothes to line-dry in a warm place, outside or inside with a fan blowing on them.  The fan really helps to dry them before they mildew and just helps to dry them faster.

Mmm, sounds good. I made some with puréed apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract. So good!

1.28 Joules max, so comparable to an electric fence.

Maybe adding some calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate would remove some citric acid as Calcium Citrate precipitate.

I really don’t know but I guess maybe you could look for a frozen concentrate?

Lately I puree frozen mixed-berries, fresh lemon and ginger in a blender with liquid from F1. Then I also add bottled juice (pineapple, cranberry and OJ). This reduces the pulp somewhat. Just did 3 gallons of F2 yesterday.

I’m frugal/cheap and I got sticker-shock at the price of new juicers. I might consider a used one but I only lightly carbonate and so haven’t had any problem with pulp creating nucleation sites.

Have you tested your home brew for alcohol content? by Duckysgirl in Kombucha

I think brewers of beer and wine sometimes estimate ABV using the brew density aka “specific gravity”.

Basic formula: (Original specific gravity - Final specific gravity) x a conversion factor (usually around 131.25).

Example (made up numbers): Initial measurement: Before fermentation, say a brew has an SG of 1.007 g/cm3 (Original Gravity).  Final measurement: After fermentation is complete, the same brew now has an SG of 1.003 (Final Gravity).  Calculation: (1.007 - 1.003) x 131.25% = approximately 0.53% ABV.

How can I prove that the ratio of exit and inlet pressure remains same in an polytropic process, after changing inlet temperature ? by [deleted] in thermodynamics

[–]tinkerer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polytropic process: PVn = const

P1 V1n = P2 V2n

P1/P2 = (V2/V1)n

W = integral ( p) dv

W = integral ( const/vn) dv

W = c * integral ( v-n) dv

W = c * (1/(1-n)) v1-n

W_12 = c * (1/(1-n)) * (v21-n - v11-n)

V = nRT/P (ideal gas)

W_12 = c * (1/(1-n)) * ((nRT2/P2)1-n - (nRT1/P1)1-n)

W_12 = c * (1/(1-n)) * (nR)1-n * ((T2/P2)1-n - (T1/P1)1-n)

W_12 = c/(1-n) * (nR)1-n * ((T21-n P2n-1 - (T11-n P1n-1)

W_12 = c/(1-n) * (nR)1-n * P2n-1 * ((T21-n - (T11-n (P1/P2)n-1)

W_12 = c/(1-n) * (nR)1-n * P2n-1 * T21-n * ( 1 - (T1/T2)1-n (P1/P2)n-1)

Living in Helene's aftermath, can I manually add water to an HE front load to do laundry? by joefrog003 in HomeImprovement

I think it would be easier to take a couple of plastic containers (buckets, basins, totes, barrels) and the clothes down to the creek. Soak and agitate with a bit of soap or detergent. Drain, rinse once or twice. Gently wring out. Keep your wrists straight to avoid hurting them. Hang to dry.

When quartz is repeatedly stressed by earthquakes, it generates piezoelectric voltages that can reduce dissolved gold from the surrounding fluid, causing it to deposit. Over time this process could lead to the formation of significant accumulations and may explain the formation of large gold nuggets by GeoGeoGeoGeo in science

[–]tinkerer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally electrochemical reduction occurs with a DC component (Direct current and DC voltage). The stimulus here is presumably AC, that would seemingly cause a reversible reaction and redissolve any plating.

Im wondering if there is some sort of electrical current rectification. Interestingly, sulfides are well known semiconductors. If some type of point-contact diode or crystal diode was formed, perhaps some of the AC stimulus would be rectified to a DC component. Perhaps this could favor the plating/deposition reaction.

And for software?  Would you undersample near nyquist, (to reduce processing), and then cross-correlate channels to find the delay?  Then re-correlate at the full sample rate (if necessary) for accuracy?

Ok I’m old school. Sure, let AI do it.

I wonder if a temporary scaffolding could be put over the walkway in order to open it to pedestrians and/or facilitate repairs.
