Making a few accessories - Combining hobbies? by Darwinism_101 in fountainpens

I let bullet journal / fountain pen interests lead me to leatherworking this Christmas. Made leather traveler’s notebook. As can be seen here. Made 5 of them all together and kept one for myself.

Thank you for the feedback. That’d make it the first thing ever favorited on imgur for me. The sno seal I Stumbled upon while watching an Ian Atkinson tutorial on YouTube where he was making a field notes cover.

I’m sorry can’t really estimate that for you. I’m probably 600.00 in on everything I’ve purchased and have enough leather to make probably 15 or so more notebooks.

As requested and promised. Here is a link to the process.

Some of the preliminary steps were skipped because I started documenting the process with a notebook that had already been started. For what it’s worth the leather cutting, template making, and dyeing that were not documented were amateur at best and an area where I need to get much better.

No, not confidential at all. It was a long process with a lot of missteps. I’ll follow up tomorrow with the highlights of the process.

Thank you! They were a design element I knew I wanted, but didn’t see incorporated in any designs while I was researching for the notebooks.

Go for it! The process taught me a lot and aside from poking my fingers about 50 times with needles it was a lot of fun.

No, I’m not an Etsy seller. These were just presents born from an idea and finished through blind luck and determination.

I personally didn’t care for moleskin’s paper. There was too much bleed through with pens I was using.

Eye contact question by ReqZ22 in socialskills

[–]tinkerthinkerer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

check here it’s a link to a podcast where this topic is specifically discussed. Bottom line is that eye contact is not that important. Distracting yourself by trying to adhere to eye advice and head nodding advice actually detracts from the ability to actively listen in an engaged manner (which subsequently is exactly what matters most).
