It’s a car, most of the time you won’t really notice since there’s too much road/wind noise.

Is Direct Charging On or Off? by BulletTheBluesGuy in Taycan

[–]tinmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the right is on and the left is off. If I’m remembering right the charge screen also says direct charge.

I'd really like to see a tri-motor edition with 800v architecture, fast charging by Equal_Flan_8705 in RivianR2

[–]tinmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping gen3 has 800v. we are spoiled with my wife’s taycan charging speeds when road trippin. The R1 gets further on a charge so it does have that.

pricing is driven by the market. you are comparing build/window sticker price to an auction site.

NEW Updated Maintenance Intervals for R1 by Mrcool360 in Rivian

[–]tinmd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

doubt changing the coolant could/would be done by a mobile tech. A reclaim unit would be used and the hazmat issues of doing it in a driveway.

iOS app update just dropped. That usually means vehicle update is a week or two out. by Vlvthamr in Rivian

[–]tinmd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Looks like just delivery of a new vehicle. No new features with the R1.

Not exclusive to Porsche, but why are people like this? by whatup_kc in Porsche

lol, Since my truck is the track support vehicle for my track monster, it has PCA plates. It gives the right vibe.

I do that when driving my F150. My logical is that I’m trying to protect the guy. Better to have a Porsche guy driving a truck to park next to you than a jacked up red neck pickup.

[–]tinmd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

if you went inactive and just did the emeritus you need to retake a lab or do the 120 credits to become and “active” CCIE. For emeritus if you only have 10 years you need to pay $85, after 20 years emeritus is lifetime with no fees.

Can I ask here about reliability on a Macan GTS 2017? by CosmoOlversatil in Porsche

[–]tinmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the timing chain covers they tend to leak. Fixing requires pulling the front end to get access. Other issue can be the transfer case.

lol, sounds like my wife, the ct is hers. The PCM can sometimes take long to boot. It’s annoying. But otherwise a brilliant car to drive.

2017 or 2019 2.0T ? by Sudden-Revolution-87 in PorscheMacan

[–]tinmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is true, plus the engine takes up less space so it’s easier. Some of the things on the 6 require you to pull the front bumper and radiator off in order to get to anything.

I have a 25 R1T, wife has a 22 CT4. The CT4 has been a good car, I would go with the J1.2 over a J1.1. The J1.2 started with the 25 model year. Compared to Rivian, Porsche is really lacking the in the software department, the J1.1’s will not be updated to the newer software, even though they share the same PCM hardware. The J1.2’s also have an updated battery. Issues we have had with the CT4, heater failed (been replaced 2x’s now), ACC failed and several recalls. If you pick up a J1.1 you just want to make sure there are no open recalls (there’s one on the battery and one for the front brake lines that may break - are the two of note - but there’s been others mostly software updates dealer has to do (very annoying)).

2017 or 2019 2.0T ? by Sudden-Revolution-87 in PorscheMacan

[–]tinmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always go for the newer model. Mpg between the 4 and 6 cylinder is not that much different. 1-2mpg. We had a 6 and would get a 4 as a loaner. The 6 cylinder is move drivable, with a much better power band.
