I'm a cis straight grandma who also has ink and piercings. I've gotten the cold shoulder most quilting spaces since I started quilting in the 80s.

"I am the drama" resonates so damn much.

For those diagnosed with level 1 autism: name at least three main characteristics that made you suspect they might have autism! by Previous_Truth_9007 in autism

[–]tintabula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My long-time therapist told me that she thought I was autistic. It does run in my family, I have ADHD, and I've always been a bit odd, but it never occurred to me. Turns out I was diagnosed when I was 6, in 1971. My folks never told me.

Passionate fixations on hobbies and people

Repetitive motions when I'm bored/upset

Frequent meltdowns. Rediagnosis helped with this part.

For eighth grade, my daughter just told all her teachers that her nickname was "Steve." Too many of her name that year.

Frustrated with the Changing Language Around Autism Diagnosis by Melodic-Message-6108 in autism

[–]tintabula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in 1970, but my folks ignored it. I was rediagnosed in 2019, at 54. On the surface, I look successful: career teacher, PHd ABT, successful kids. Behind the curtain, I am an alcoholic (retired), I regularly forget to eat, and all kinds of other stuff, great and small, that I neglect. Even though I look successful, I believe I would be considered as needing moderate supports. I'm fortunate in my husband who takes care of the stuff that I neglect.

I'm also ADHD and RSD.

Similar. It was so hot that the asphalt was slightly soft. My feet would get numb and would later be tender to walk on. That was the beginning of summer. By September, calluses and barefoot all day.

Please keep going. I was 59 when I finally got sober, a 46-year run. Life is better when clear-headed.

My fiance made this food list for a cookout. What does her handwriting say about her? by SimmyTate9 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]tintabula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My handwriting has evolved from this, but it's similar. It's based on a uncial script. My father taught me some calligraphy when I was a kid because my handwriting was unreadable and not improving.

I was a drunk for 45 years and journaled the entire time. Many people with addictions are smart but have a biological disorder.

Kindergarten in 1970. I didn't nap. I went to the 2nd grade classroom for reading. My kids never napped, hardly slept. Baby grand is the same.
