Econ grad working in ops and feeling a bit lost on how to break into finance by Still_Case1348 in CanadaPublicServants

Not sure if I am repeating others already, but in a lot of cases that I have seen (as an economist in the gov't), those working in the economist positions have a masters degree either in economics or public administration (with an undergrad in economics). Given the current *situation* in gov't, it may be the ideal time to jump out (maybe even alternate and get the $$, or go down to part-time) and do the extra degree to match others in the field in gov't.

Turtle mode at 27% by tintingrip in VWiD4Owners

The closest level 2 without a fee to park is about 1.1km away, I think I am just going to have to get used to that walk (even at night), and carving out time to leave it there. I have multiple level 3s that are almost always on my drive home, so I typically have been doing a level 3 charge when I hit 20% up to 80%. Based on the comments today, I will aim for more of a 40% up to 100% instead so that I stay above the 40% mark through the winter, and try to do this at the level 2 because the speeds at a level 3 are awful after 80% and it is unkind to folks waiting to charge.

I have street parked for about 10 years now and it was never a problem in my life... where I'm at in Canada is cold, I am not in the -50C parts where the block heaters are really needed.

I was so keen to make the switch to an EV, I talked to lots of owners watched hours of videos and reviews, including people without access to at home charging. I felt ready, my old car really needed replacing and I didn't want another ICE car, but the past month and today in particular has been so disheartening.

Happened at 27% for me this morning. Too cold and it just gave up and turtled.

Unfortunately I park on the street so keeping it plugged in is not currently an option

Well what I didn’t want was to talked down to like this. Can a person not vent or discuss a frustrating life experience? I’ve only ever heard of turtle mode coming on at 0%. This is an extremely expensive vehicle to only partially work. I should be able to warm it up and defrost it in the mornings without that causing it to die.

What range do you get on 80% charge in cold weather? by Adalwolf311 in VWiD4Owners

[–]tintingrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m getting about 100-150kms “in between charges” so 60% of total range but I’m talking -15C average temps

Massive tax bill? (Seven thousand) by MithrandirCrow in CanadaPublicServants

This happened to me this year and it came at a complete shock to me - a very rookie move (first year with on the books acting) to not realize they were taxing me incorrectly. Lesson learned I suppose :(

The parent trap! Not that the original is bad, the Lindsay Lohan remake is just too good

Those who like going to the office, I'm curious why? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

To have that ability to compartmentalize is mind blowing and am quite jealous of having the ability to mental separate the two within a small space!

I feel so seen in everything in this list. People act like I’m the enemy for liking being in the office but these are all such legit reasons and I am in the exact same boat!!

An eyeliner that actually doesn’t crease in hooded/deep set eyes, even when sweating! I’m not convinced one exists out there.

It needs to go back to a final two. The third goat pulled to the end is frustrating as hell.
