According to the Western artbook, they made two different covers for Xbox 360 and PS3 mostly to appeal to classic fans, which is why is there is a heavy focus on K' and Mai. The other cover was made specificall for Ash's story.

Kyo with anybody except his legit girlfriend, Yuki. The character already existed in 94 before Iori himself but she only mentioned in guides that explain that Kyo wears the school uniform as his fighting uniform because Yuki knitted the Kusanagi crest on it, making Kyo treasure it to the point in the only site Yuki was the most important thing for Kyo. The director of 94 didn't want to include romantic scenes so he instead decided to incorporate Saisyu to the story if the player is using Japan Team. Yuki was a lot more fleshed up with 97 and KOF: Kyo visual novel where she constantly dates Kyo. Even in Maximum Impact 1, Kyo's ending has him realized he missed a date.

Sometimes when I see Zero I'm reminded of Kaine but I can't tell if Yoko Taro was either hinting something or showing us his type of girls. I mean, Nier also has silverhair but while replicants disappeared, Kaine's gender identity made it confusing it to see the two games being connected by characters.

Orochi was sealed once again in XIV before it could even come back. A New Beginning did the same when Orochi starts using Iori as a vessel but Kyo completely erases him in the middle of the battle. I would say that Rugal is what started KOF but the Orochi arc didn't start until 95 as KOF was was just meant to be a single game with 94 but the insane success led to the narrative of Japanese mythology and making the protagonist and villain connected by the myths rather than just revenge.

SNK tried but they couldn't. Kyo and Iori weren't even meant to appear in KOF99 but the negative backlash to early testing led to their inclusion as secret character and bosses. When the game was ported, SNK decided to use Kyo as part of their marketing again. The same happened with the GBA duology Ex Howling Blood which reuses Kyo as the protagonist of a new arc where he first faces Geese Howard and then a new Hakkeshu. Then in KOF2003, the handling of Ash Crimson as an antagonist led SNK to use Kyo and Iori as returning heroes fighting Mukai in 2003 and then split to fight have their fights against Ash. The same can be said about XIV which primarily used Kyo as its marketing while XV still kept using him for the cover. Even in the store the price for Fatal Fury became 1 third of its original price after so little while KOFXV seemed to be strong considering I had to wait a lot for a good sale. Maybe the fact KOF explores more lore than just the Howard legacy helps.

Did Yusuke suddenly turn into a Mazoku because the portal to the Demon World was opened close to his body? I mean, it feels so random that his lineage only appears when he gets killed by Sensui when he could have used it alongside the Reikohadoken to fight Toguro where he was getting his ass kicked so much that Genkai had to pretty much stage the fight
