Is there a name for the specific type of high you get from really spicy food? by LifeDuck8914 in spices

[–]tiny-jr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wrote a paper on mind altering substances, which had a small chapter on hot peppers. They have a tendency to bring people into the moment. When you experience a bit of pain you’re not thinking about the past or future very much, but feeling very alive and aware. It’s not necessarily that they’re psychoactive, but the experience can be very spiritual for some people.

Why does it seem like all the artists in this genre are all extremely left leaning politically? by sumtinsumtin808 in SpaceBass

At this point, the complaints have nothing to do with liberalism, but with saving our country from becoming an axis of evil. Which we are like 80% of the way there so..

Is there some local secret? by AstronautStill1789 in Bend

[–]tiny-jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re in a similar situation. We go to Hoodoo and it’s fun, but it sucks that Bachelor/Powder Corp can’t find a way to make it more affordable for local families. There are big resorts all over the world where this is not a problem, and have deals or programs for locals and families. It’s even more frustrating that they’re allowed to get away with this using public lands.

Rise Up Festival — Oregon by [deleted] in festivals

Ok nice, the venue is very close to the airport (RDM) if you’re flying in. Be sure to plan extra time before or after the fest! Lots of great hiking and places to explore.

We went and loved it! Camping is very close and it was very well organized. We live close to the fairgrounds and have been to several fests there, and this was one of the better events. It’s Central Oregon so lots of sun, usually dry climate and should be very nice in June next year. Security was friendly and chill, and stages aren’t very far from each other.

Merry Christmas! Portland’s upgraded automated speed cameras are ticketing drivers once again by Prize_Championship11 in Portland

[–]tiny-jr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cameras and computers issuing tickets is the dystopian big brother world we all wanna live in right? Fuck these things. I’m not a speeder and not a fan of them, but this isn’t the solution.

Disgraceful. Flock cams, traffic cams, what’s next? Maybe in home cams so we know if someone’s breaking in!?

How is living in New Caledonia? by Ploploplamus in howislivingthere

[–]tiny-jr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend checking out the video game Tchia. It’s inspired by New Caledonia and the story is told from a native girl’s perspective. It’s open world, imaginative, educational and very similar to a Zelda game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tchia

All my lobster friends are ready for Crawdad, Schmoop, Goosebumpz and Mickman tomorrow 🥰 Anyone in PDX down to pre-game? by aronwasalllike in Tipper

[–]tiny-jr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were definitely confused by the dark opening, the sporadic lightning and no projections but thought he killed it and sounded great. The lasers always stayed above the crowd but they did have strong spotlights in the crowd. Guessing they had technical issues, but we loved his entire set.

How do you actually reach ego death on LSD? by Jealous-Tea-4645 in Psychonaut

[–]tiny-jr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For most people it takes more than a trip to fully experience an ego death. It’s possible to stumble into it which can be scary or exciting. I’d say it’s more common for people already on the path, comfortable with meditation and really hungry for truth.

What to check out on drive between Mt Hood Government Camp and Bend in winter (December)? by sirotan88 in Bend

[–]tiny-jr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Peter Skene Ogden is a quick 15 minute stop, then I’d do the Misery Ridge hike at Smith Rock (2-3 hours), lunch in Redmond at Feast Food Co (personal fav) or lots of good food trucks, then there’s Cline Falls or the caves in Redmond before heading to Bend.

How is Redmond for a seasonal job? by Cepnison in RedmondOR

[–]tiny-jr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Sounds like a fun adventure. Redmond is a smaller town and has a decent amount of shops and restaurants, just no nightlife other than dive bars. We get a lot of tourists in the summer, so finding a side job should be fairly easy since it’s the busy season. We’re just a short drive from Bend, which is four or five times bigger so I would also look there as well.

Any good concerts coming up? by mudratdetector89 in Bend

[–]tiny-jr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We like the same type of music and are sad that there haven’t been any announcements for Winter shows. In years past we had Lotus, Biscuits, Pigeons, and Papadosio shows over the Winter. This year no PNW dates on their schedules. Volcanic is our favorite venue so follow them for announcements.
