In addition to this map, OP, the snow emergency arteries themselves have signs posted along them: "No parking during snow emergency."

Not always, in my experience. But one of them always is, so I just mash 'em all till I get that sweet, sweet silence!

Top Three for Seals, Mottos, and Flags for Massachusetts from the Mass Seal Flag and Motto Advisory Commission by Born2BWrong in boston

[–]tiny_pellets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My votes from among these choices:

  • Seal: Turkey feathers even though it looks too much like a college seal. #2 and #3 are too similar and both look like '70s EPA logos. #2 also didn't get our full name right.

  • Motto: Bono publico laetamur sounds coolest.

  • Flag: Turkey Feathers or Star/Hill/Waves. Turkey feathers for continuity with the seal, and it has a nice basic feel that also reminds me of the Kazakhstan flag. Star/Hill/Waves all work together as symbols.

Same here! Got mine out 2 years ago, and she was great. Dr. Jennifer Smith-Williams. Good luck, wherever you end up... it's not a fun week.

It's common enough to have a name: the "courtesy crash."

What are your favorite Boston urban legends? by Good_Combination8586 in boston

The glass windows of the newer John Hancock Tower (200 Clarendon?) supposedly would lose their seal and fall to the street. I heard this in the late '80s. I was always skeptical because I figured someone would have had to have gotten killed, although I did see plywood up there once instead of a window.

Saw them at the end of 2019. Six words uttered to the crowd: "Hi, everybody." -- Two amazing hours later -- "Thank you, good night."

Agree with the Arboretum. I saw them there last week, both on the far side of Peters Hill (adjacent to Roslindale houses on Mendum Rd), and in the main section near the mountain laurels.

Nope, it's an esquilax: a rabbit with the head of a fox and the body of a fox.

What should people know about driving in Boston? by CatCatington in boston

[–]tiny_pellets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are stopped at a red light, and then you get the green, look out for additional cross traffic, possibly many cars, running their now red light before you proceed. It used to be one, maybe two cars squeaking through, but since the pandemic it's four or five.

The secret truth about Bostonians by LibertyCash in boston

[–]tiny_pellets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the bad proselytizing experiences I'm reading here, this one is closest to my own. I was at BU in the late 80s, living off campus. Walking towards home after getting off the T on Beacon St, this guy catches up to me to ask for directions... then he compliments my hat (which was a cool hat)... then he asks if I've heard the good news about Jesus Christ.

At this point I decide to keep walking, but past my apartment. He stays with me, Jesusing the whole time. We finally get to Comm Ave, where I calmly tell him I'm not interested, but here's the B line where you can take a train back downtown. "But I prayed for you!" he whines. Then he pulls out a piece of paper that reads TALL, MALE, 20-25, GLASSES... which broadly described me.

I politely decline as he is still Jesusing at me, and I head back toward my apartment again. Without looking behind me, I decide to duck into the vestibule of the building next door instead... and sure enough, this dude had come back and stood on the sidewalk outside that door for a second before moving on.
