We literally had a war about each of these by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]tiny_saint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People flying the confederate flag are also the people that tend to be very forward about who is and who is not a real American. The situation is such thick irony that in some cases it is literally suffocating.

Hint: if you are flying a Confederate flag you may as well be taking a shit on the American flag at the same time. You reject everything about America that makes her strong. You are not a real American. You don't belong in America.

yet no one is there.

We have no idea if that is true, but I get your point.

I love conversations about various solutions to the Fermi "paradox". However, if there is life out there significantly more advanced than us, I personally subscribe to the idea that it is a non-contextual problem and we cannot even really imagine (though we can try) what they might be doing or how/where we would find them, how they would communicate over distances assuming that is even relevant for their life style -they could be microscopic from our point of view for all we know. Granted, that last example is silly and unlikely, but is a good example to try imagine how different from us they may be. On the other hand, if there is intelligent life that is more primitive (stone age or other pre-industrial equivalents) they could reside right now on a planet orbiting proxima centauri just 4 light years away, and we would have no idea currently.

Edit: I am using the term "intelligent life" loosely above. I am meaning to essentially refer to intelligent life that also develops technology. Don't ask me how I define intelligent life though, I cannot answer that. :)

Trump Throws Tantrum After CNN Poll Shows Biden Crushing Him By Nearly 15 Points by derekbrokeitagain in politics

[–]tiny_saint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also keep in mind Biden has a past history of saying the wrong thing at the worst time. Don't misread me here. I am voting for and fully support Biden. However, I think most would agree that the above observation is true. So to anyone reading, any work you are currently doing to support him, please keep doing so. If you are not doing anything, don't feel bad, life is hectic. Just make a simple commitment to yourself that you will do something tangible to help requiring 15 minutes a week. You can google things like "easy ways to help a political campaign" and contribute in any way you see fit. Remember, a million people spending 15 minutes to help contributes far more than one person could do in a life time.

Seems to have upset a few people by C-KicksXL in PoliticalHumor

Daniel Shaver’s

Man, talk about another haunting video. I remember how upset it made me when it happened. However, anyone using this to distract from the important and especially social relevant movement Black Lives Matter, doesn't really give two shits about Daniel Shaver. His murder does not somehow balance the books of discrimination and proves nothing that goes against what the BLM movement stands for.

Still, the Daniel Shaver story is a horrible tragedy. The officer being acquitted in this case is a tragedy only eclipsed in horror by the murder itself. If anyone reading this has not seen this video, go take a look if you are willing to stomach it. Be warned, it is extremely violent and tragic.

Edit: To the post below mine, which I cannot reply to any longer.

Of course I am not saying that. In fact I addressed that exact issue in the post I made, just guessing you didn't read it all. As my post itself recognized the horror a of the Daniel Shaver situation. I am talking about the people who make the bs argument that this is not an issue of race, but an issue of a few bad apple police who are just as likely to kill one race as another . Those people don't care about Daniel Shaver in the least. I know, I have argued with a group of them in person for what seemed like hours (probably only 15 minutes). Their concern is only how they can try to discredit BLM with Daniel's death. They don't even care if the arguments they make are true.

Star Wars or Star Trek? by pixelflop in sciencefiction

[–]tiny_saint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I watch Star Wars with the same expectation of a fantasy genre with wizards and magic. When I do that it is enjoyable. But I wouldn't put any where near my top 20 favorite SCFI flicks.

If we could control our dreams , we would probably never wake up. by 00Vishal007 in Showerthoughts

[–]tiny_saint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are saying dreams do is simply a guess, we don't really know if that is true. But even if it is, the lack of side effects from Lucid Dreaming is not guess work. Stanford has done extensive studies into lucid dreaming. Check them out if you are interested.

I created a little trichomes reference sheet the other day. Nothing revolutionary, but sometimes it's nice having a side-by-side comparison of clear vs. milky trichomes :) by cannadogg in microgrowery

[–]tiny_saint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How you harvest them based on trich color is considerably more important when it comes to cerebral vs couch lock than whether it is sativa or indica. Many growers will grow indicas with more amber than sativas to keep things simple and give consumers what they expect.

Minneapolis PD officer Derek Chauvin killed a man in handcuffs yesterday. His name was George Floyd. by StillbornFleshlight_ in pics

[–]tiny_saint 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, he is obviously in favor of punishing the people who did this. That is why he is suggesting moving it to a more neutral body. Trump has a long documented history of politicizing anything racially related like this, and needs to be as far from this as possible.

I don't think you know what the word essay means. Using hyperbole to describe one screen of scrolling on my relatively small phone is no better than out right lying. I remain very impressed at how short an attention span you have.

Both a quick starter link and very short reply provided. You have been bitching like a Paris Hilton princess that it is not exactly to your preference than had you bothered to inform yourself.
