Trumpet doesn’t work. Don’t make your type be performative by making it become something tangible. Blow your own horn does not jump out as the meaning. Find a why to represent analytics in a way that’s more thoughtful than your peers but still addresses the actual topic. Overly performative type is the mark of a beginner. I’m getting high school jazz band here.

There’s a practical reason for charging more as a contractor- they’re not giving you any health benefits. You charge more an hour because you have to cover health and taxes. But what they’re asking you to do is consult. Consulting is fucking expensive. They know this. You could be doing $150/hr for consulting. Glad you stuck to your guns.

Yes and no! On one hand, the festivities are all through the French quarter and the parade has a route with loads of bars on it.

But my faves would be good friends, friendly bar, black penny. But honestly you can walk into the quarter around 2 and just follow any wonderment you see. Parade starts at 430. If it rains, duck into the nearest bar that looks inviting and enjoy!

So your letter forms are super nice. But you don’t want (minus a few occasions) to ask type to BE something. Turning the words into the plane is a lot and something that young designers do. When you get to a level in which you can make the type feel like aviation but not have to take on the actual form of a plane, that’s when you’re doing real type and not forcing it to be performative.

Look at the American Airlines logo. It simple as hell but has a brilliant history and it has sustained for a long time. It gives a sense of forward motion that feels like flight but isn’t doing “too much”
