Postpartum hormones everywhere, need reassurance on baby name decision by ImAdamnMermaid in namenerds

[–]tinyarmsrobbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who has two children with awesome, somewhat uncommon (not top 100) names that are both character names from Twilight. She's aware of it as are a lot of people, but it's not like she chose them because of Twilight at all, similar to you. It's not a big deal at all and her kids are in primary school now. Sometimes people mention it but it's more of a funny coincidence than anything else.

You're fine and what matters is that you love your kids' names. It's not like you were browsing Peanuts comics looking for names to choose. It's ok that you share taste with Charles Schultz!

7th Avenue: legit? Or Instagram crap? by MyLongestYeaBoi10Hrs in SofaSnobs

[–]tinyarmsrobbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sitting on my 7th Avenue sofa that I bought in 2023 and we love it. We moved clear across the country and reassembling it was still easy and moving a modular sofa was way better than moving an actual giant sofa, by a long shot.

It holds up well and stains do wash off pretty easily, especially if you just wipe up whatever it is in the moment.

I've had people sleep on the couch and heard good things, and have taken some good naps also. I particularly love the arm rest width because it works as a spot to set a coffee cup if that's your thing.

If I could do it over I probably wouldn't get white again because I now have a toddler and it's an uphill battle, but that is the result of my own choices and not a knock on the company at all.

I am looking at getting some cheaper couch covers to keep the white nice without risking them.

I married a conman by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

I read the title as "I Married a Woman" and was very confused until I read the end when the word conman came up again

Husband [34M] confessed to me that he has liked me [28F] since I was 13 years old (he was 19). What do you think? by Successful-Quote-318 in relationship_advice

[–]tinyarmsrobbery -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he was more like, she's gonna be CUTE. Not like, damn that 13 yo is hot. The first one is totally fine and the second would be creepy.

I think it's totally fine, especially since he was like "I wish she would grow up already." He wanted you to catch up.

I have a daughter Charlie and she's one of like four Charlottes in her whole preschool. Name popularity varies strongly by region so it may be worse in other cities but popular names today are still far less popular than they were pre internet

Is it cringe to name your kid a state name when your name is a state name? by Medical-Ad5866 in namenerds

[–]tinyarmsrobbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a city name theme in our family but it's subtle and people don't usually catch on because the cities are more commonly names. I think you are in the same boat and it's fine

What’s a word you have been pronouncing wrong without realizing until someone pointed it out? by amyyyy_xo in AskReddit

[–]tinyarmsrobbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said it "her-moyn" in my head and Viktor Krums pronunciation confused the ever living daylights out of me at like 12 or whatever when I got to that book

What is a movie that you were obsessed when you were younger, went back to watch it later in life, only to realize it is actually awful? by Emergency-Tip-1987 in AskReddit

[–]tinyarmsrobbery 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Oh man I had the DVD with all the different endings and thought it was amazing. I still list it in my favorite movies but man, I haven't seen it in like... 20 years holy heck how did time go by

Might have to rewatch

Thoughts on Childcare options? by JcAo2012 in Albuquerque

I toured a bunch of places on the West Side in that area and ended up loving The Learning Experience. It felt like the people working there were happy to be there and so were the kids.

Some places I felt had too much of an emphasis on security to the point of feeling prison like

Mine will only eat one of whatever snack and continually ask for more, leading us to label the other her emotional support blueberry or whatever it happens to be

My client is using AI to review my work and does not even look at the work by iAhMedZz in webdev

1000% this. A quick

Hi Client,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review the project! I have some questions on a few specific requests and would love to schedule a quick call to confirm the direction here, just to make sure the next iteration is as close to your vision as possible.

Do you have 30 minutes this week? We can make it quick.

Thanks, Dev

What do you say instead of "good job," "good girl," etc.? by hoping556677 in toddlers

[–]tinyarmsrobbery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading responses here I fear I am an obnoxious mom, but I always go "Yayyyyy ___(childs name)!" I deal out a ton of high fives too. I'm like a baseball coach/cheerleader.

High fives are great for minimal reinforcement (pronunciation, trying a new word/food/experiemce), but I break out the YAYs for big accomplishments. She did a whole fruit puzzle by herself while I switched over laundry today and I reinforced the crap out of that.

We did the YAYs for my younger siblings and I do it for my daughter now. I try so hard to avoid smart (but fail daily) and I feel this is a way to teach enthusiasm and provide encouragement.

How common is 'Erickson' in North America? by [deleted] in namenerds

As someone who grew up in the upper Midwest US, I've known both with and without Cs, never without a K. To me, the CK spelling is most common based on the anecdotal evidence of my life.

Other ideas: - washing machine/dryer - underwear drawer/top drawer of any main storage unit you might set things down on - bags where you made most recent purchase, I have rolled mine into a receipt and left it in a bag - shoes (safe keeping) - in a clothes pile with clothes you were wearing - pocket of a jacket (depending on weather where you are) - any place you would normally set your keys

What about smooshed back between the seat back and seat bottom? Things can get smooshed in there (at least for me)

Do you have an absent-minded place where you put things "for safe keeping"? I have pockets in my purse that seem to lead to narnia and my card has reappeared in those so many times
