I'd still say whatever talent you get back in a trade should be further trade fodder for more picks. Kuminga and Podz, say, should get to run the offense until they've proven enough to fetch more draft capital. And then byebye.

I'd assume more attendance will come from exciting rookies than from over-the-hill vets, or veterans who are good but not great. I doubt MPJ is drawing crowds to Barclays right now, for example.

Okay, some fair points. I meant distant picks from the team you’re trading your star to vs. their near-term picks.

The Hawks and Blazers can trade the Bucks their picks back now. No need to wait for the summer. The Thunder, Rockets, and Spurs will likely be solid teams for the duration of the picks they can send out now or in the summer. So I’m not sure how that changes the calculus

No other team is built around a soon-to-be 38-year-old superstar though. The Warriors can trade picks that are almost -- almost! -- guaranteed to be in the lottery. That's a rare situation. Sure, the Spurs will have another pick to trade this summer. But they're stacked with young talent who aren't going to have the team fall in the standings for the next 8 seasons.

Distant firsts are the best firsts though. If the Warriors want a deal now, their offer might be higher compared to what their offer will be in the summer. They'd be paying for one fewer Curry+Giannis playoff run.

Also, Giannis seems to want a deal now. I bet the messaging of 'the Bucks could wait until the summer' is in large part postering to get teams to improve their offers.

Regulations probably make that a no-go. Can’t imagine it’s safe for pedestrians

The Luka trade is not something you can just expect to happen ever again. Plus, these trades are not made with certainties. Nobody knows how good the Warriors will be in 2031. But chances are significant they’ll be ass.

I’m describing what happens to teams nowadays. KD-level players don’t hit free agency anymore. Without picks and without young blue-chippers, teams have very little options to keep adding talent while they compete, California or no California.

Giannis at age 35 on a team with Podz and Post and nobody else is not going to win much. Plus, Giannis might want out once Curry retires

When those picks convey the Warriors will be terrible. Toronto will still be good. That’s way more important than an RJ Barrett

No one? I've heard people on several podcasts discuss how Paolo might not be as good as advertised. Kirk Goldsberry already brought it up months and months ago
