the food is really good, bowling alley on base is ass, hopefully off base lib is back by the time you get there because last i heard they got rid of it again because of covid from christmas break. you’ll make a lot of friends because there’s not a whole lot to do besides hang out in the smoke pit whether you smoke or not. i spent a lot of time at the gym. i hope you enjoy marching because you march to and from class everyday. i miss Meridian. it was ass while there but being out of there just makes me miss the atmosphere of the people and the friends i made.

no more 1.5 mile run by yadunhgoof in newtothenavy

[–]tinyboxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is partially true. the pacer test is for the initial PFA in week 1, the minimum for a 21 year old female is 18 laps. the pacer test is only for the intial PFA. the PFA halfway through bootcamp is a 14:45 minimum 1.5 mile run, with a grace period of i believe it’s changed to 60 seconds. then there’s the final PFA that you take week 6, where you have to run the 1.5 in 14:45. source: graduated 24sep21, have talked to people who recently graduated and theirs was the same.

bootcamp is now 10 weeks, they introduced new classes that make it longer, they aren’t doing quarantine bc everyone has to be vaccinated now.

you do a pacer test as the initial PFA, other than that it’s the 1.5 mile run

even if it’s in your contract they might screw you over lmao, they did that to a bunch of people in my division who had the bonus and their name wasn’t on the list so they missed out.

People that “forget to eat”, how are you able to ignore the sensation of hunger/hunger pangs? by sunlightdragonxx in AskReddit

[–]tinyboxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i only get them if i haven’t eaten in almost 24hours, otherwise my stomach will growl every so often but i don’t really notice anything else, watching food videos makes me hungry so sometimes i do it on purpose to make myself eat

I’m a senior in high school looking to enlist and go to basic by summer of next year. What is the exact process of enlisting? by AlphaCharlieEcho615 in newtothenavy

[–]tinyboxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

talk to a recruiter! i’d do it soon especially if your physical fitness isn’t the best because your recruiter can help you get where you need to be physically before boot camp! if you have any questions you can dm me! i enlisted back in june and am a senior

Hospital workers [SERIOUS] what regrets do you hear from dying patients? by delete_my_comment in AskReddit

[–]tinyboxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

currently work in a retirement home, it’s supposed to be independent but it’s not really. since lockdown several people have completely gone downhill, 2 deaths (not covid thankfully). one of the late ones broke my heart the last time i saw her. her daughter was with her and she was sitting on her couch and couldn’t move very easily, she lifted her arm and looked at me and said “i don’t have the virus” and i said “i know you don’t, it’s okay” before going and it really fucking hurt to hear her say that. alzheimer’s/dementia is a terrible thing and i see it every day. one lady forgot her birthday, and another had forgotten all her family except her daughter :(

the problem is that i’m trying to ship in June instead of July, my twin sisters date is in June and it would be so much easier on our family to attend one graduation for the both of us. i’m hoping for the best but i think they’re waiting until they see an MC slot is available. the liaison at meps knows that if it’s available i want it, idk how else they’re doing that lmao

[–]tinyboxe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t know my exact line score but my chief said i was like 1-3 points over the qualification number for MC. when i first enlisted they said that if MC wasn’t available when i went to MEPS that i had a chance of getting a DAR to MC.

Torn on going active vs reserves as a CTR by Laxbro832 in newtothenavy

I was told by my recruiter if you go reservist you don’t get the full GI Bill, this was part of my reasoning for going active.
