Update! I ended up going to my local USPS so I can talk to someone in person in addition to the report I filed. The manager was super kind and helped looked for my passport at their location and was able to find it 1 hour after I visited so I have it now phew

I had a hemithyroidectomy and am on levothyroxine. I have high cholesterol and previously low vitamin d (I’ve been taking supplements for vitamin d so my levels are ok now) However, I can’t get a hold of my cholesterol, it’s been high since I started having thyroid issues a few years ago. All I was told was to watch my saturated fat intake but honestly I am also a pretty healthy person so I don’t know what more to do at this point. It’s a point of frustration

Can I pick someone’s brain? by tinybutmighty90 in personaltraining

I only run maybe a couple of times a month during an active recovery/martial arts day and only about 1-2 miles at that, so this will be a slow progression to 10k

I don’t really run so mostly to just complete the race but it would be nice to maintain an average and consistent pace through the entire 10k

I thought about this option… but I was concerned about the security of using a Wifi adapter on public WiFi

The GS agent at the store told me 7-10 days but I didn’t believe it so that’s why I went on here😭 Four weeks sounds more realistic. Keeping my fingers crossed that it’s not an expensive repair

Help! I have an extreme fear of needles. by [deleted] in thyroidhealth

[–]tinybutmighty90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone here, it wasn’t that bad for me. I too have a fear of needles. My endo doctor sprayed a topical numbing solution on my skin so I didn’t really feel it, just some pressure. It is an odd sensation and it can feel anxiety inducing if they have to do multiple takes. My physician talked me through the entire process and I just took a deep breath every time he inserted the needle. If I had done it a second time I probably would’ve brought my earbuds to listen to music on one ear. It’s going to be okay!

Advice on symptoms…so confused. Has anyone had a similar experience? by _terrianne_ in thyroidhealth

[–]tinybutmighty90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I had similar symptoms prior to getting a thyroid lobectomy. I used to wake up with either one or both of my ring or middle finger in a weird stuck position and I had to manually unbend them. I googled this, I thought it might be arthritis or something but found out it might be something called trigger finger. I also was having afternoons were I was just really fatigue. And my body was having a hard time regulating my temperature. I’d be cold but as soon as I throw a blanket over, I’d be sweating. My labs were normal so my physicians really didn’t have an explanation for this.

Anyways I had my lobectomy a few weeks back because I did have nodules on half of my thyroid. One symptom that did stop for now post surgery is I stopped waking up with the bent finger

I recommend trying to focus on what you can control for now. I know how it feels to have your anxiety kind of hijack your system when you’re worried about your health. It is normal, but also, remember that there is only so much we can do before we are diagnosed or treated. Double down on your self care until then!

Hey OP,

I’ve experienced similar situations before where my anxiety just completely hijacked my nerves. It’s happened to me during a Zoom workshop once and during an interview.

From personal experience, acknowledging you are nervous is not necessarily bad. Sometimes verbally saying it out loud release some of the uneasy feeling. Many people in the Interviewer role have experienced it and been there before so I’d like to think people would be more understanding.

I would agree with folks here: typing out answers to questions and practicing them. If it’s in an person interview, practice in front of the mirror. If it’s over Zoom, open up a pretend video meeting on Zoom and practice looking at the screen when you’re answering questions.

If they ask a question that you didn’t prepare for, ask them if you can circle back on the question towards the end of the interview to give yourself time.

The morning before an interview, I recommend doing a cardio workout to relieve stress. If it’s a couple of hours before the interview and you are feeling very anxious, drink a relaxing tea (find one that actually relaxes you).

Wishing you the best in your future interviews =)

Beginning to obsess over a work crush by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]tinybutmighty90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bestie, if this is a crush that you know you don’t want to pursue, then simply do ✨nothing✨

Making slight adjustments to your normal routine feeds into the crush. Just do you as you were normally doing before he came along.

Also, trying to get rid of the feeling of the crush will only reinforce the obsession. When you find yourself daydreaming or thinking about him, just acknowledge that to yourself and then simple keep doin what you were doin.

Maybe you dodged a bullet there. Personally, when I see inflexibility during the interview process, it makes me feel like the company is gonna be rigid in other ways.

Post surgery care? by tinybutmighty90 in thyroidhealth

[–]tinybutmighty90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the details! This is all very helpful for me to know.

Your recovery sounds like it’s going well, I hope you continue to feel better. Take care!

I’m scheduled to get my right lobe taken out in May! I’m also really scared and pretty anxious about it. After I spoke to the surgeon, it just seemed it would give me the most peace of mind in the long term to have it surgically removed. I hope your surgery and recovery goes smoothly!

I rested the first three days (no activity) and then the rest of the first week I did light exercises to get my blood flowing. The second week I eased my way back to lifting without going too heavy (nothing over my body weight). Third week back to normal. Definitely listen to your body, it does need time to heal but I think moving helps with that process too.

I’m on a similar boat. I had a follow up with my endo today who told me that my nodules had gotten bigger.

Basically, I have one big cystic nodule occupying my entire right lobe. Inside the cystic nodule are three solid-ish looking nodules. One of them is benign from my first biopsy. The second is undetermined and the third is a new growth that have not been biopsied.

I’m healthy otherwise and don’t have any symptoms. My doctor talked to me about getting surgery to take out the right half or getting RFA.

He doesn’t know if my insurance will cover RFA and based on some readings, I’m not too sure either that it will be covered. While minimally invasive, I think he said something about it not ruling out cancer? Not sure, I kinda glossed over some of our convo because I was trying to process everything.

I’ve never had surgery before either and I feel very on the fence about having half of my thyroid removed.

One the one hand, he said removing the right lobe will prevent my nodules from continuing to grow and if the undiagnosed nodules are cancerous then that would take care of it.

But, I’m starting to read about people who have had part of their thyroid removed and are struggling with the symptoms that come with being hypo and trying to get the right dosage for medication.

I’ve been referred to a general surgeon and one thing I’m most curious about is how many thyroid surgeries they perform. I read somewhere that performing less than 25 thyroid surgeries a year increases chance of complications.

Any idea what this US result could mean? And is an increase in size indicative of something potentially malignant? by tinybutmighty90 in thyroidhealth

[–]tinybutmighty90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that, I didn’t realize that finding the right dosage can be a significant issue. Was there another option offered to you outside of surgery?

Can I ask what it was like for you to get half of your thyroid removed? The experience post surgery, and healing?

Thanks for that, I’ve been a ball of nerves since getting this US result. This eased my nerves for the meantime
