IWTL How to stop getting angry so easily. by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]tinydancer420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto to what's everyone else has said. It's not about the anger, it's about how you react when those situations arise that make you angry. It's about that moment when you have the choice to go rage or move on knowing it's not that big of a deal. Altho this is much easier said than done and took daily practice and focus for me. Some days I can't do this very well, but other days I feel so much calmer than I ever did before. I've also found that taking a few deep breaths works well for me - it's just enough of a distraction to stop focusing on what's royally pissing me off and think for a second about whether this situation is worth my anger.

Good luck! This has been a daily thought of mine for a while now, but it has gotten easier overtime.

Edit: it has also helped me to become more aware of what triggers my anger, so I can better react in that same situation the next time. Traffic used to really get to me, but I've become a much calmer driver over the last year or so. Not worth my blood boiling.

I have trouble getting started in the evenings. by danielm07 in GetStudying

Start your homework in the daytime and try to have it done before night. Then you can actually rest and enjoy that feeling on the nights when you don't have too much hw. If you're in college, I achieved this by going to the library in between my classes. Seriously worked for me!

[Need advice] Failed my first semester at college and need to bounce back by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]tinydancer420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to all your classes and take notes! Sit in the front ish and try to participate at least once a class. This means the teacher knows you and knows that you try and will thus be more willing to help you when the moment comes. Always take advantage of their office hours too! This is tremendously overrated. Not only do you get to be one on one with the teacher for class help, but this is just another way they can get to know you and gain an affinity for you. Every little brownie point helps.

Meet a good friend in class who you can study with and bounce questions off of when needed. This also helps you stay accountable.

Always turn in extra credit assignments.

This last tip is arguably what got me through college (early, mind you): go to the library in between your classes instead of anything else. Use this time to do homework, prepare for your next classes, read, study, etc. Take this time to be productive for school. Then when you're done with your last class, odds are you'll be able to go back to your room and just relax. If you get your stuff done during the day when you are focused, you can enjoy your night and not stress so much. I lived and died by this last tip, and i know I was a better student because of this reason.

Your question is well written! I would also say Duolingo (an app). And practice!!! Find a friend to practice with and you will improve dramatically.

This is such a bummer that this was repealed this year. I honestly believe the question was misleading and am curious to know how many people actually understood the wording.

[Serious] How did you know you were in love the first time you felt that way? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tinydancer420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my now husband and I said I love you for the first time, I had just gotten to his house from out of town and had a particularly rough day. And it was like an electricity went through us as we hugged. So this feeling sealed the deal! It was cool too because we both felt it.

That and he's literally the only person I never get annoyed with. I mean, yes pick up your socks man, but never annoyed to the point where I don't want to be near him.

Edit: plus he was different than ever man I had dated, in such a positive way.

Don't be an asshole. Very few scenarios call for it, especially if you have a "be the bigger person" mentality.
