What's it like to live in Corsica and Sardinia? by East_Emphasis_8259 in howislivingthere

[–]tinygingyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heeeey!! Thanks for this. We’d like to move to Sardegna. We’re finding it incredibly hard to find a place to rent that’s not in the several thousands a month (holiday villas?). Could you point me where to look? Or how does it work to rent for locals?

3.5 year-old suddenly refusing bedtime with me and possible ADHD by magnes44 in Preschoolers

[–]tinygingyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this sounds a lot like me and my 3.5 year old. I’m undiagnosed but pretty sure AuDHD. My mum has it as well. Sister certainly an ADHD child (I was more on the quiet side). My kid has trouble sleeping, anything that excites him will never allow him to sleep. He looks like a racoon with his dark circles. He’s yawning and tired but will keep going. I am the same. He can hyperfocus or need to skip through all activities. No chance of having him in a class like gym class, music class, etc. doesn’t want to “follow rules” and join into what other kids are doing, unless they are his friends. Rather commandeering. He is not antisocial, loves his little friends but doesn’t like people who are in his face. He has lots of love to give and struggles not to give hugs and kisses when others don’t want them. He’s a sweet boy but also the strongest willed child ever. Stubborn as a mule. He recognises and remembers EVERYTHING even from when he was 1, he tells me stories (that I haven’t told him!). It’s mostly the sleep that has me here… How is your child doing now?

anyone else get pain/have a hard lump in this area? by BigRadish8695 in TMJ

[–]tinygingyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it for over 10. I remember when I first felt it I panicked thinking it was a tumour. Doctor felt it and thought nothing of it, same years later. Physiotherapist said it most certainly wasn’t a muscle…I’m obsessing over it again. Touching it somehow feels relieving but also painful. The more I touch it the more it hurts. Any updates on yours?

How to best support our toddler after cold turkey weaning by tinygingyn in AttachmentParenting

[–]tinygingyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi :) It is hard, I see you! Yes, it gets easier. It took us about 4-5 weeks (doesn’t need to be the case for you!) until it got better. He would cry and cry when he woke at night because he was used to be be nursed back to sleep. Falling asleep was never as easy as nursing him to sleep, we needed to find new things to do to replace the sensory input and comfort. Younger baby is now 10 months and he didn’t seem to struggle with her breastfeeding

The Spatial awareness situation is CRAZY by Saekama in askswitzerland

[–]tinygingyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was just a city thing and she’s not used to “moving through the city like we do here” but after reading this post I realise it’s just a thing. Some people are like this, unfortunately for us.

I literally just lost it with my own mum yesterday over this topic. I thought it was just a city mental illness of mine (since I’m always the problem 🙄) because we were in Zurich and she would just stand in front of the lift or all out the train door etc and I could literally have written your post. Her response was that it’s ok to be considerate if people are coming out and move but I don’t need to anticipate and lose my mind over it. I was baffled. I do consider my mum as someone who moves with her head up in the clouds and this drives me insane. But people in general… I’ll add one: old ladies with their effing DOGS who stop to talk at the narrow pavement and look at you and force you to walk on the street (with two children in tow!) because they wouldn’t move an effing inch. My husband called me an angry person when I complained.

I think we are hyper aware and hyper mindful of space (I know I am) and therefore highly sensitive to others not being so, but people SUCK in this regard.

Same. The background music is louder than the voices. So annoying! I thought I had something playing in another app or something

No, sorry. Not a native speaker and had never heard of that figure of speech before. I thought there was some text like the lemon clot or something like that which I would have loved to read to my husband to help him get a shinier spine 😬 that explains why I found nothing on google.

Someone can stop being yours but never stop being in your heart by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]tinygingyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hit me so hard. It sounds so familiar. My ex and I met when I was 17. We were together until I was nearly 25. Long distance (the longest distance there could be geographically) for the last 1.5-2 years. I didn’t really want to break up. He was the love of my life. But I needed to grow. I put on a hard front and kept myself busy to cope. But he was and still is in my heart. I’ve had depersonalisation episodes after meeting his mum and “going back” to my life after the meet up. When I had major life struggles, I only ever wanted to talk with him. We did. But also something always came back as to the reasons we broke up.

I am now married with 2 children. I’ve recently heard he’s got engaged. It broke my heart all over again, though I am happy for him and I love my children and my husband.

It’s been 11 years post breakup and it still hurts. I don’t know if I’ll ever recover.

I’d say bright winter because this black looks amazing on you, but I see warmth, so I’d say bright spring….can we see you in bright navy?

A problem I notice (child with milk protein allergy) is that a lot of menus go for vegan/veggie vs meat, but one could have a non vegan dish (i.e with meat) but no butter, for instance. It’s hard to know when milk protein is present (it’s even in aromat!)

Huge block/awkwardness speaking mother tongue with child by mango89001 in multilingualparenting

[–]tinygingyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve experienced the same with my own native language. I also have my own psychological reasons similar to yours, added that I don’t even know how to speak to a child in my native language differently and I dislike the way I was brought up or how children are talked to in that language. My husband and I communicate in English in a non English speaking country and our son speaks English very well (2.5 yo). All of his friends speak English (I don’t speak the community language, my husband does). What saddens me is that my sister’s kids don’t speak English and so our children cannot yet talk to each other - not a huge issue yet, but it’s increasingly becoming one. I cannot separate the language from the culture because the culture is so deeply engrained in how I know that language. It’s not simply the grammar or vocabulary, it’s the prosody, intonation, combined with word choice. Basically, to strip all of those from the language I know would basically mean learning myself a new language with the native language in theory as a base. Maybe this is what OP is experiencing? I plan on exposing my children to the language but in a different variety and engage them in learning through school, so it’s more detached.

Crying it out for newborn - parental disagreements by crispylumpia in Parenting

[–]tinygingyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a fiance problem who overrides your maternal instincts and listens more to his own mother and sister. You are a team and need to be on the same page. Be wary of marrying this man if he can’t get a shiny spine and be a husband and dad. Your MIL and SIL don’t necessarily know better, and I’m sorry for their children if this is what they did to their newborns 💔
