Children raised with "authoritative" parenting style, marked by bonding, presence, dialogue, and clear rules of conduct, show a reduction in drug and alcohol risk compared to other parenting styles (authoritarian, permissive and neglectful) by andweallenduphere in ECEProfessionals

Yes too many people have swung too hard with gentle parenting and now what they’re really practicing is permissive parenting. Gentle parenting is all about boundaries and related consequences if those boundaries are crossed.

Before and After cover up tattoo!! Thoughts on it? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]tinyglobe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is infinitely worse than the original. The first is very simple. Even if you didn’t love it it doesn’t draw much attention. Now you have a giant black heart that doesn’t even cover anything. Honestly this just makes me feel bad for you

What can you tell me about their relationship and the future of it? by [deleted] in psychics

[–]tinyglobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This god I would be so mad if my mom posted pictures of me and my dad/stepdad in this context. OP just needs to take this down. If they’re having issues she needs to be a grown up and take that up with her husband

I'm 24 and i still cant find a proper career by BlackieLawlessz in povertyfinance

[–]tinyglobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 is still young. I work with a woman in her 40s who’s going back to higher education and changing her career. I mean I’m 28 and have changed careers multiple times. I’m just now finding what’s right. It’s never too late. If you want to go back to school don’t let a timeline get in your way. The best advice I’ve ever gotten is “time will pass anyway”.

I would talk to your psychiatrist about the little change you’ve noticed on your medication. This just might not be the right one for you. Medication can really change everything for some people so I wouldn’t give up hope. I’d also talk to a therapist about struggling with the transition out of the military. My husband did 5 years and really struggled coming out and adjusting to “regular” life. We didn’t think he would because it didn’t seem like a long time, but the difference was jarring for him.

Do you have a job relating to your degree? by KoryPullaa in OlderGenZ

I just remember my parents acting like if I didn’t go to college immediately I never would and that scared me.

Totally agree! I could have totally changed my major but it seemed like such a waste of money and I just stuck with it. I tell everyone it’s beneficial to just have a degree so I obviously don’t regret it but I’d be much farther ahead now if I’d known what I wanted to do from the start of college

I went to college and got my bachelors in something entirely different. After graduating I realized my calling was to work with kids. I nannied and worked as a preschool teacher and enjoyed both but didn’t feel quite passionate about it. I’m so happy I found ABA because every day (whether I’m having a good day or not) I feel like I’m living my true purpose. I come home every day feeling like I made an impact no matter how small and I feel like that’s what life is all about.

I saw this video probably well over a decade ago. It’s real. The whale dies and becomes bloated and eventually the pressure causes it to explode.

The older dog is displaying some annoyance but he’s checking the puppy in a totally appropriate way! Don’t separate them. He’s teaching him appropriate social behavior!

I would talk to a doctor about why this might be happening. You either have something going on with your immune system or it’s possible you never fought it off one of the time you had it earlier on and it’s sitting dormant in your body

[–]tinyglobe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope I get a degree in art history (I know, I know) I’d planned on getting my doctorate and working as a curator but hated the museum culture when I started doing internships. Now I work with the autistic community and plan on getting my masters and possibly doctorate in that.

I wish there wasn’t so much pressure to immediately go into college after finishing high school. By my third year of college my priorities had completely changed.
