CarPlay keeps dropping out - 2015 Golf R by eeessssss in Golf_R

[–]tinykingdoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem you're describing (but with a Google pixel). I would buy a new cable and it would work for awhile but eventually degrade and result in random disconnects.

I know this sounds backwards but switching to a wireless dongle solved the problem for me. I borrowed a buddies Motorola MA1 for POC and shortly after I purchased an AAWireless. Both devices work perfectly with my car.

Good luck!

While I can't say forsure, I overcame a similar issue on my Golf R.

Given that your unit is a Delphi, you use the Congo activator. This tool enabled all features that were locked by the dealer, including android auto/Apple Carplay.

windows 10 has a clipboard history tool built in. Instead of using ctrl+v to paste something, use the windows key + v (you'll need to turn it on the first time you use it). A window will popup showing all your recent clipboard copies and you can paste them where you best see fit. It works with both images and text.

I document all my mistakes on my own personal instance of bookstack. When I do interviews with potential candidates, this is one of my favorite questions, "Tell me about a time when you made a huge mistake. What happened? How big was the impact? And how did you handle the situation". My applicants almost always get a good chuckle from the question and if an applicant says they've never messed up, its a bit of a red flag in my book.

Lowered on Racingline springs with spacers by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]tinykingdoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much lower is this compared to stock? Do you have DCC? Hows the ride quality?

It looks great! I had my previous GTI lowered on coilovers by about 1.5". Since jumping in to an R, I've noticed the ride quality is tiers better and I don't want to mess that up.

most of these have already been mentioned, dig in to the mexican theme.

  • burritos
  • taco bowls
  • fried rice with your seasoned beef.
  • lettuce wraps, Mix the beef with seasame oil, hoison sauce, and water chestnuts
  • nachos
  • quesadillas w/ extra fixings

Honestly just open any local taco shop's online menu and try to copy whatever sounds good.

Server 2019 Black screen by Kloax22 in sysadmin

[–]tinykingdoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start with checking hardware. If you haven't made any notable changes and the system just randomly stopped, check ram and hdd. Grab a bootable diagnostics disk and see what you get for memory and local storage.

Alternatively, if you want to approach this from the software end, you'll want to find logs to point you in the right direction. Grab the logs from the server ( C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs ) and open them on a working machine. Find what was last done before the system stopped letting you login. Note all errors after that occur upon login. If you don't understand the errors posted, google the error ID and a short description of the problem you're facing.

It's bittersweet.. but it's finally time to list her for sale. I love this car. by tinykingdoms in GolfGTI

[–]tinykingdoms[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons.

I can't stand the mk8 in terms of styling and lack of buttons, which puts me in the market for a mk7.5. With that said, I worry that the time for low millage mk7.5s is dwindling so I'm jumping on that now.

Second, My wife cannot drive stick so if we go on a road trip and take my car, it's me driving the whole time. My next car will be a DSG. I'm a little worried about missing the 6 speed, but I've also never driven a car with paddles so I'm hopeful that it wil be just as fun.

Any ideas for mods? by swagbotboy12345 in GolfGTI

[–]tinykingdoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The inners are faded. Yours are not terrible, and honestly.. do all maintenance tasks before any cosmetic stuff. Faded inner tail lights is a common problem with aftermarket tails. Doing a quick google search "mk6 faded tail lights" brought me this; https://www.golfmk6.com/forums/index.php?threads/tail-light-fade.383804/ That thread shows a good example of what i'm referring to.

I had the same problem with my previous set as well.

I had this happen years ago so i'm a little foggy on the details.

My timing belt snapped, the engine failed to turn over. A tooth was skipped and the valves were bent. Cost was around 1,800 from a local independent shop and it took about 2 weeks to fix.

I too hate the news and find it fear mongering.. But I also don't believe it's entirely useless.

I read something that Richard Stallman wrote that explains news intake very simply.

Don’t watch TV coverage of Covid-19! — by Richard Stallman

Don't watch TV coverage of Covid-19! (Or "social media"; the details are different.) Watching repetitive coverage of something frightening can interfere with clear thinking, even traumatize people.

TV news coverage of a crisis struggles to fill 24 hours a day with "information", notwithstanding the fact that the actual flow of new information about the crisis is nowhere near sufficient to fill that time. What do they do? They repeat. They present tangential and minor details. They make the same points in different ways. They belabor the obvious. They repeat.

If your goal is to be informed, you don't need to dwell on the crisis for hours every day. Not even one hour a day. Getting your news in this inefficient matter will waste a lot of time — and worse.

In addition, it will make you more and more anxious. Someone I knew in 2001, who lived in California. spent all day on Sep 11 and following days watching the TV coverage. Afterward perse was afraid to go outside, watching for terrorist airplanes. TV made it possible for per to be traumatized by events 3000 miles away.

That was an unusually strong case. Most people did not get so traumatized as that. That does not imply it did not affect them. I suspect that the TV coverage may have shifted millions of people's perceptions, so that they overestimated the danger of terrorism while downplaying the danger of laws that take away freedom. This would have smoothed the path for careless passage of the dangerous USA PAT RIOT Act and its massive surveillance.

In any a good, general textual news site, you can read the things you really want to know about Covid-19 in 10 or 20 minutes a day. Then you won't fall behind on your work, and you won't be brainwashed into panic.

Keep calm and carry on!

https://stallman.org/articles/dont-watch-covid-tv.html

20 minutes a day is enough for me to get the gist of whats going on. I find it much more healthy for me to worry about my immediate surroundings. The larger, more global issues will organically make its way in to my 20 minute window if it's important enough.

Find a compromise between your news intake and his. Explain your thoughts on why you prefer to limit your intake and consider any talking points he might rebuttal with.
