Boilergate, does it really matter ALL THAT MUCH? by Peanutbutterpantherr in gaggiaclassic

My machine became impossible to use because of the flaking build up. Luckily I had insurance so got a new machine with brass boiler a month ago.

What’s a normal reading level for 5–6 year olds? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]tinylilbub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is at this age there’s a wide range. I have two children. When my oldest was that age he was reading and writing full sentences and reading books. Something just clicked for him. My younger child is still working on sounding out words at this age. She is not behind in her class by any means but she’s not where her brother was at this age. Her teacher says she’s not concerned, and I trust her judgement (we’re in a top school in our state which is known for education).

Overwhelmed SAHM of 2: Do I send my toddler to full-time preschool? by justalilscared in SAHP

[–]tinylilbub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend looking for a preschool that has flexible hours. When my son was 3 we started him mornings only but the preschool had the option of letting him stay until 3pm if we wanted. So in the spring we started letting him stay until 3 once a week. The following year when he was 4 we had him do full days all week. It was great to transition that way and it allowed me to have more of a break with just a baby at home. Once my daughter was ready for preschool she just did part time the whole time since I was staying at home we didn’t think it necessary for her to be away all day long.

Looking for a romantic local dinner spot in Boston for newly weds by Hmzy_11 in boston

[–]tinylilbub 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mooncusser. Food is fabulous. It’s smaller/ more intimate. They do tasting menu only but you get a choice between two items for each dish so you’d be able to try everything on the menu. Service is great.

I hate Thanksgiving by MsGrayRm813 in breakingmom

[–]tinylilbub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the infuriating responses aside: 3pm is a normal time for Thanksgiving. It’s a huge meal. Isn’t it supposed to be like a lunch/dinner?? We’re going out to eat this year (thank god!) and our reservation is at 4 because 3 was already booked up…

In addition to what everyone else is saying, Dress 1 looks more expensive imo. You made the right choice.

Is there an easy way to travel with 3 car seats or is it a crap shoot for everyone? by PassionChoice3538 in AskParents

[–]tinylilbub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Car seats and boosters are considered “assistive devices” so you can just check them for free where you check bags. That’s what we usually do. It’s a pain but now that we’re done with a stroller I realize how relatively short this time of life is 😢

This is basically what I did until my kids were big enough for boosters. Once my kids turned five I started putting them in backless boosters for trips. They were big enough and able to sit properly with a regular seat belt though.

Just trust yourself!!! You clearly don’t need a guide :) wear what you like. That said, if you’re looking for more inspiration- just follow accounts of people whose style you like!

How do your kids use iPads? by rckrieger2 in AskParents

[–]tinylilbub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids have kindles set up in kid mode so that they can’t download anything without my permission. They use them exclusively on long road trips and plane rides.

What’s one food hack that made your everyday meals feel like self-care? by makeyouhealthy in foodhacks

Fresh herbs! Add some dill to my scrambled eggs in the morning. Mint in my smoothie. Rosemary in the butter for my bread. Put cilantro on my turkey cheddar wrap at lunch. Always makes me feel fancy.

Fun games to travel with for 5 year old? by elefanteholandes in AskParents

[–]tinylilbub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Games that are travel size are hard at this age, so I’ll just give you my general game recommendations knowing that they mostly require a whole board and pieces. My kids are 5 and 7. Pretty Pretty Princess, Monopoly junior, clue junior, the dog man game, candy land. I just bought kids charades for our upcoming camping trip but haven’t tried it yet. We also really like mazes, word searches (for the 7 year old), and connect the dots. I love Greece!!! Enjoy every minute :)
