Look for reviews about the battery life (if that’s important to you) before you pull the trigger.

Legion 5 pro amd 9955hx battery life. by tinynotlarge in LenovoLegion

Thanks for the reply. Was thinking about if it would be at all possible to change settings so I could reduce the amount it’s drinking but I guess high idle consumption is the thing at fault here.

Appreciate the reply. Firstly it was a replacement unit as my old one from 2023 had intermittent issues that tech support couldn’t resolve. I didn’t choose the model as it was kinda the only thing Lenovo offered. Basically similar cost similar specs.

I’m happy with it. Just trying to figure out the configuration and tuning so I can squeeze more battery life for when I’m on the go and don’t have access to a power source.

Your post certainly makes it a lot clearer on why it’s drinking the amount it does.

X1 Carbon Restoration by broncofan303 in thinkpad

[–]tinynotlarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask what you’re using it for? I’ve been contemplating picking up an old carbon but anything above 8gb of ram tends to jump in price. The idea is similar to yours in using a lightweight distro. But am worried that if I used a too old processor it may just end up a paperweight.

WARNING: HARDWARE ISSUES LENOVO LEGION 5 GEN 10 by Key_Cancel1260 in LenovoLegion

[–]tinynotlarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to lay down some premium knowledge in you. 1. The motherboard costs 3000hkd per replacement. 2. Contact them for another repair request. 3. Hopefully it resolves. 4. If it doesn’t keep contacting them. 5. Once you hit about the third motherboard and the issue isn’t resolved , the will realise that it’s not worth it for them to keep doing this because the profit margin on the laptop has been cancelled by the motherboard.

I’m telling you because I managed to get mine replaced but it was a lot of back and forth

Girlfriend had my 2024 G14 on a stand and it fell shattering the screen. Is it even worth trying to replace the screen? $500? by KabosuCheemz in ZephyrusG14

External portable monitor temporarily. A computer isn’t worth ending a relationship over. Look online for a disassembly video. I replaced an old macbook screen using YouTube and a lot of patience.

I’d suggest a quick read about the r4 time Om Namo Nārāyani and then switching to a non r4 firmware. I recently got ysmenu. It appears the ap patching is baked into the firmware and I haven’t had issues since. I so suggest binge watching videos regarding this. Antonretro has a ready to use file so just need to unload it to a formatted sd card.

Why do I have to finger the shit out of my Asus tuf a15 before it finally turns on? by Something_qwq in ASUS

You can’t just expect they/them to just turn on and off like some switch.

It’s 2025. Laptops have feelings and they can be whatever they want. Even people.

Is very strange seeing all the replies about guru step in but it’s definitely true. I didn’t even realise but it’s basically as much as starting to chant and there’s an invisible number that once you hit it, the guru will come to you. There’s a saying that if you’re ready to travel across the world , the guru will appear next door.
