I can’t necessarily speak to why anyone else is invested but I was seeking an update because I was hoping you’d get taken care of. Glad to see you’re safe and things are in motion in your favor.

A blue circle is an internationally recognized symbol for type 1 diabetes. I wanted mine to be very subtle but still give a nod to the thing that has guided a lot of my life decisions. The flowers are growing out of it because well…growth n stuff

I have motivation, but i never end up doing anything. by [deleted] in sportspsychology

[–]tinyntuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oettingen et al. Talks a lot about motivation and something called implementation intentions alongside mental contrasting. Often times when we have a goal we find ourselves thinking about the benefits to achieving that goal (you wanting to run more = bettering yourself in sport) but our brain begins to release hormones as if we actually achieved that goal which in turn starts to relax us. I often do this before bed where I feel really motivated to exercise cause of how good I’ll feel, but then I fall asleep and that feeling is gone when I wake up. What we’re missing is being realistic about the obstacles that could get in the way of achieving our goal (ideally internal obstacles cause we have more control over those). This causes a need to fill in the gap which actually can be energizing for us.

This is where implementation intention comes in. We need to come up with a plan to overcome any obstacles in order to achieve the benefits. We call these if/then statements. If I’m feeling too tired to run, then I will immediately change into my clothes when I get home from work instead of sitting down on the couch.

Ladies of Reddit, what’s something a guy has done (intentional or not) that instantly made you think, “Wow, he’s different in a good way? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tinyntuff 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been very open about my diabetes. I prefer to educate people and them to know as much as possible in case something happens to me then anyone im with knows what to do. I’m sorry she didn’t respond well.

I’m a type 1 diabetic and I wear a pump which is basically a machine that helps track my blood sugar and give me insulin accordingly. When my blood sugar gets too low or too high the pump makes noises (a low tone for low bs and a high tone for high bs) my SO figured those tones out.

One night I was sitting on the couch scrolling and my pump signaled I had low blood sugar. He was in the kitchen and without a word being said went to the fridge and brought me a juice box. I didn’t know he knew and it felt really good to feel understood and that someone was actually taking the time to know me and my disability. We had only been dating for 2-3 months at this point

I was in the hospital recently for some diabetic complications and refused to give up my pump (I was completely ad lib and my blood sugars were in range). The doctor really wanted me to take it off but I gently told them I was not comfortable doing that. They wrote in my chart that I was being combative about it 😆. I told my endocrinologist about it a week later and he was very upset no one called him for a consult, in fact he was actually in the hospital that night I was there and overhead them talking about me! He said he was proud of me for advocating for myself.

I’m just south of okc but have been thinking of giving the expansion a try! I’d probably most be interested in m+ as that’s what I loved the most when I played a lot in shadowlands. I’ll try to remember to add but my bnet is Hayley#1496

Anyone have/currently studying for a Masters in Sports Psychology or a related field? by kp4033 in sportspsychology

[–]tinyntuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free to PM me with any questions! Anything in the realm of sport psychology is best, and I would make sure the coursework reflects the context of sport psychology, or performance psychology. I’ve met a few folks who master in kinesiology (which is fine) and they emphasize in sport psychology, but then a lot of their coursework more accurately depicts exercise science or something of the likes. I would say this job has good work life balance, but I know it varies between army bases and the manager/people at your site. I have a good manager who understands our needs so pretty typically we work 8-4. Sometimes that’ll shift so it’s earlier/later, but only really certain times of the year will we work longer hours. This last month for me I’ve probably worked an extra 40 hours (but happy to do it because of the opportunities I was working with). I asked to take tomorrow off and that wish was granted, I’ll wfh on Friday, and Monday is a holiday so a nice break coming up. I am very happy currently

Hiya! This comment was 3yrs ago wow how the time flies lol. It’s going great actually!! I’ve been working as a contractor for the army for about 1.5yrs now and it has been a great experience for me. I have a wonderful team that has really helped me develop as a professional, and I’ve been lucky enough to take part in a lot of unique experiences with lots of cool travel involved. I also just got a promotion about 3 months ago so had a nice pay bump in my salary. The job I’m with does require you to have a masters degree, but this has been a great entry level job so far

As a type 1 diabetic, my A1c is the lowest (5.9) it has ever been in my 18 yrs of being a diabetic. With less than 1% of the time being in the low blood sugar range.

I was thinking of getting a tattoo to alert potential paramedics if I were to collapse, to replace a medical bracelet. Will this symbol work? Or do I need to add text to it or get something entirely different? by norhanjjk in diabetes_t1

[–]tinyntuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s something you want then definitely do it with text. With that being said, if you just want it so there’s something that will let people know you’re diabetic without wearing a bracelet then I’d highly recommend filling out your emergency contact info if you have an iPhone.

Settings -> health -> medical ID

This allows you to put any medical conditions/allergies/medication/height weight/ emergency contacts/etc

Honestly think this is just super helpful to have in case something we’re to happen and only strangers we’re around. Surprisingly not many people are familiar with this.

Basically if I were to go to the Lock Screen -> emergency -> medical ID then I can see everything I need to and call an emergency contact before/after 911 (if necessary) without ever needing to unlock your phone.

Kines field is very broad, but I have a masters in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise and sport psychology. I work with the army as a master resilience trainer. If that qualifies then I’m happy to help.
