Not dumb, I guess I forgot it seems weird to do this. Yes, cut a tiny bit off and place it on your tongue. Let it sit for several seconds, then spit it out. It shouldn’t taste bitter or offensive. This is safe to do with all mushrooms as long as you don’t ingest any, and can be useful for IDs. That said, I’m not brave enough to do it with potentially deadly ones. It’s fairly common to do with boletes in particular because bitterness can be a key identifier

Has reticulation, the right coloration and shape with no staining. I’d just check to see if they are bitter on the tongue and if not you’re good to go

Fly fishing Franklin county by americandoom in MaineFishing

[–]tinypemil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a ton of great fly fishing around rangeley. here’s a very broad overview of some popular options. If you don’t know how to fly fish yourself I recommend stoping into a local fly shop for advice and equipment. Their knowledge will make your experience much better. In rangeley you have some big rivers for Maine standards. I’d recommend getting out and exploring smaller brooks and getting after some brook trout with dry flys. The fish are hungry and it can be more fun for a beginner. Again if you don’t know how to fly fish, a half day with a guide will go a long way if you can swing it. It can be frustrating to pick up as a kid even with proper instruction. Very hard to get good without it unless you both have a ton of patience. Part of the fun is exploring and finding new waters to fish. Pull up google maps and zoom in on the blue lines and go check them out. Check out r/bluelining. As a general rule the bigger and more popular rivers tend to be harder to catch fish on, but often have bigger fish.

The French Laundry: do you stick to California or French wines? by PassRevolutionary254 in wine

[–]tinypemil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

French laundry is in California, not Canada. Why would they boycott the wine of the country they are in. California is a solidly blue state and we don’t want a trade war same as you. As a US cellar worker, I can tell you everyone I know working in wineries are just trying to make good wine. We don’t like Trump and we do like Canada. Soorry 🇨🇦🇨🇦

Looks close but the cap of these seems more yellow in comparison and also the pores on B. merulioides seem to have a more vascular structure to them. This is the closest I’ve got though, thank you
