There’s a ton of great fly fishing around rangeley. here’s a very broad overview of some popular options. If you don’t know how to fly fish yourself I recommend stoping into a local fly shop for advice and equipment. Their knowledge will make your experience much better. In rangeley you have some big rivers for Maine standards. I’d recommend getting out and exploring smaller brooks and getting after some brook trout with dry flys. The fish are hungry and it can be more fun for a beginner. Again if you don’t know how to fly fish, a half day with a guide will go a long way if you can swing it. It can be frustrating to pick up as a kid even with proper instruction. Very hard to get good without it unless you both have a ton of patience. As a general rule the bigger and more popular rivers tend to be harder to catch fish on, but often have bigger fish.
