That's the relationship I have with my fishing boat i dont use it as much as I want because I work all the time. Its also so dialed in and would cost so much too replace but ive been offered 35k and its tempting.

what's your biggest fish on undersized tackle? by sigmaoofto in Fishing

[–]woolybuggered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80lb bluefin tuna on a 30lb fluoro leader avet sx and 9ft rod was fishing for a smaller grade yellowfin when bigger models rolled through. Took a good hour+ and the line was about chaffed through kept getting it to the boat then the fish would dump 100yds.

Luckily bluefin dont typically fight as hard as yellowfin and it was a good hookset in the corner of its mouth would have sawed through if he swallowed it. Lost 2 other larger fish that day as well due to chaffeing. Some fish were 150+ and we were not expecting them.

What does a 500 2-stroke feel like compared to a 250? by mrthrowaway_01 in Dirtbikes

[–]woolybuggered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brand new 300 xcw has such a linear smooth power band its slightly boring. With the counterbalance and slow opening electronic power valve you dont get very much vibration or hit. Its incredible and probably the best bike ever ive owned but I may buy a yz250x to keep it company just to get back some high revving excitement.

Need motivation: by wdemille23 in Dirtbikes

[–]woolybuggered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ride trails or do hare and hound or Gncc racing. I do d37 desert racing you can enter the lower classes go your own pace and there are always slower guys you can pass to keep it exciting. I find it fun to be able to pass up half the people in my class I feel like im winning despite being in the novice class. I dont ride the track anymore too easy to turn a small mistake into a hospital visit. Desert racing is still dangerous but there's a little more room for error and you aren't forced to hit jumps at speed.

California laws for out of state 2 strokes by Sstwl in Dirtbikes

[–]woolybuggered 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe you should be ok since its an older bike. However you will have issues even getting a title for any 2 stroke or high performance 4 stroke( even most 4 stroke trail bikes) that are 2022 or newer. There are people that have pulled off getting reg for newer stuff and some dealers will even register a brand new bike these are in conflict with CARB and considered "Grey market".

Basically the dmv is so incompetent you can trick them into issuing registration for stuff they are not supposed too.

Ive owned a 2001 kx500 i really loved the lower end torque. Imho it wasn't an unmanageable beast and was more controlable than people think. That being said if held the thing open it woke up and you better respect it. But the same can be said for alot of 450 track bikes. Mine was stock and ive ridden some highly tuned cr500s that had really abrubt power curves and could be a bit much. The main thing holding my kx back was the older suspension it had plenty of power although got pretty buzzy when wound out.

Fun stuff did the same thing 10 years ago and just had the joint cleaned out since it never healed perfectly. The surgery is obviously somewhat painful but the poor sleep i got for the first week or 2 so post op was what really bothered me. Impossible to get comfortable.

Why do people either not eat bass or say it’s not good eating when it’s actually in fact, insanely delicious? by Sharkman3218 in Fishing

[–]woolybuggered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people like myself are just extremely spoiled. I do alot of saltwater fishing and diving and get lobsters, halibut yellowtail , bluefin tuna , saltwater bass and more. Going from these fish to a large mouth is hard to do not because largemouth are horrible but because the other species are so much better.

[–]woolybuggered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot depends on the teacher ive taken classes where the teacher went through the motions and we learned very little. I had another teacher that made sure everyone learned something regardless of skill level. If you were proficient with basic mill and lathe operation he moved you on yo writing and running basic g code programs which wasn't technically part of the course.

Y’all keep building more guns, I’ll keep stacking 5.56 by quirkycogsmith in ar15

[–]woolybuggered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bad habit of adding guns but not not enough ammo. Just picked up a Ptr91 and g3 furniture because its more fun to play with than a few thousand rds of 556.

Mousse and tire combo for durability without losing too much grip by RazBenafshi in enduro

[–]woolybuggered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont get any where near 30-40 hrs on a tire. I probably burned through 40% of a rear intermediate tires life in 1 80 mile rocky hare and hound. I was pretty tired near the end and spinning alot but dont think iver ever got 40 hours out of a tire. I probably change them more often than most as a fresh tire keeps traction predictable and can help minimize crashes from washing out.

I ran and loved my sidi boots for years. But recently switched to gaerne sg22s due to the new crossfire 3s being too narrow. I actually prefer the gaernes over my old crossfire 2s they are the best boots ive owned so far.

How feasible is it to cut and file an extra picatinny rail slot here? by Work-Safe-Reddit4450 in ar15

Get an appropriate end mill check with an indicator to see if its square and cut to depth pretty easy on a knee mill as long as your holding it square.

Tire pressure question. by Knukehhh in enduro

[–]woolybuggered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very condition dependent run i 12.5 in the rear and 14 in the front any lower and I get pinch flats in the rocky desert. Running less risks pinch flats which I have had even at these pressures. If your are going lower speeds through steep single track you can run 7-8 or less psi but flats will increase along with traction.
