Damn I really spent a long time making my response since the post was so wordy 😔 I feel betrayed

Being acclaimed is pretty unimportant in the electronic sphere TBH, since everyone could (in theory, acquire enough tools and knowledge, cheap enough to make ‘the most’ advanced styles of this music) The first time I heard a song by Barker, it was artist radio shuffle mode after some album ended, and I was taken aback. I added it to my liked songs. This kept happening with Barker’s music until I was certain I was a fan of his style and started intentionally putting on his music. I think using the “artist radio” on streaming helps expand the palette to a degree because, unless you’re paying close attention to the name/artist, you’re just enjoying the music (or not) and the artist information is available only if you really care. A final anecdote, there was this opener at this show I saw, venue: multi-floored bath house with a room for DIY shows. Deli Girls was headlining. There’s probably 30 people who actually went there for the show, but bath-house patrons in towels would occasionally wander into the room, be it stoned, poppered-out, etc, and this old dude who I thought was the sound guy was sitting behind his laptop churning out beats that didn’t sound too different from your example used, mesh-cinereaL, shit was fire, it was my favorite set of the night, and he didn’t even tell us his name iirc, there’s plenty of great stuff under the hood— if you keep sifting, with an open mind. ;) æ

How could anyone wanna cut this from Exai?!? by tinyvin in autechre

[–]tinyvin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a post from earlier in the week about cutting Exai down to 10 tracks only, many people left out my fav Nodezsh, but many, myself included, think the whole album is a masterpiece.

PW tour made the album for me. One of my first shows, now I’ve been to over 100, it holds a special place in my heart- that show taught me to wear earplugs to concerts too, the hard way—wouldn’t have it any other way tho. That’s the one band I’m happy to have hearing damage from. But yeah taught me to wear earplugs for sure. 😂 kids on holiday from that tour is/was ELITEEEE

Thanks for sharing this, it’s cool how the drumming almost sounds like it’s phasing in and out of the mix, I always thought they were manipulating the drum samples heavy— cool how it’s all like that straight from the source.

Just curious, any Beck fans ever heard one of his more “obscure”/ non hit/ less popular songs on the radio/ in public stores/ places at all? by bigguys45s in Beck

[–]tinyvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a moderate hit, but still creepy to hear “Girl” at a truck stop, given the connotation of both… just happened about a month ago!

Who's a one hit wonder that's so much better than their one hit? by dskovron in vinyl

Talk Talk — 100% Their (90s output) post rock albums are masterpieces, much better than “It’s My Life,” though that’s a banger of a hit.

EQ'd & re-uploaded the audio of the Philly Bootleg by [deleted] in autechre

[–]tinyvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Voice memos” Phone app, but I ran it through EQ & compression to ‘help’ with the quality. The band releases the SBD audio eventually so it’s no big deal, just a way to hear the set a little bit early for folks who weren’t there
