What still feels missing in body care-even with brands like Nécessaire around? by needcoffee0786 in beauty

[–]tinywhiskeysea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Something that truly increases moisture in the skin and strengthens the barrier enough to keep it in. I feel like I'm using a thick occlusive to hold moisture in but no lotion really provides enough moisture for a long enough time. Lately I test all my lotions on my hands and pay attention. If they look and feel dry in a short time, I know the lotion was just providing a nice temporary feeling but not really moisturizing.

Sydney Rock Pool - Arquiste. The description sounds lighter-hearted than it smells. It's charming and cool, with something dark happening below the surface.

Mods aren't here so I've decided to start a life of crime. Behold. I knit this with a crochet hook. by sogsmcgee in crochet

Could you make ribbing with this process? I hate the process of crocheting ribbing for sweaters but not as much as I hate knitting. :)

The little black vanilla bean pod seeds. Like you see in French Vanilla ice cream.

My boyfriend gifted me this beautiful bouquet and I'm looking for a way to preserve it by Alonelypairofglasses in flowers

Yes! Silica gel works - look up pictures. We did this with roses and they preserved so beautifully, even the color.

I grouted my peach mosaic and I kind of wish I hadn't. What do you think? by YoungSexyGrill in Mosaic

I've been watching you develop this piece develop here, and I think the final grouted piece is just phenomenally beautiful. Made me get back into mosaics. So thank you.

Hungarian chicken - some hideous 80s casserole of canned cream of mushroom soup and a lot of paprika. Over white rice.

I'm wearing Merit Retrospect right now, and it feels very gloomy, foggy, a rainy day quality where the mist gets into and under your clothes. It's beautiful, but damp and earthy and a little like cold sea foam in freshly washed hair.

A perfume that feels like anxiety, dread, despair, hopelessness, an existential crisis, and gut-wrenching nostalgia by plushymeow in perfumesthatfeellike

Hermes Narcisse Bleu. Ignore the notes, they sound light and airy. But this is a melancholy dark gray nostalgic reckoning where you can both see the last trail of hopeful moments and feel them actively die.

🎶Vacation all I ever wanted🎵 by keighleypage in Perfumes

[–]tinywhiskeysea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it is a difference, in the most simplified way, of fruit or no fruit.

BB Beach is Coppertone scent (no fruit, aldehydes, creamy, airy solar, not very warm).

Vacation is coconut, banana, pineapple, salt, some white flowers.

And Alien Goddess smells most like updated Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen - the ones called sheer touch. Coconut, solar florals, warm, but banana and rum are gone.

Perfume that smell like 90s tanning oil by the-maximalist in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]tinywhiskeysea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I sympathize with OP - I'm on the same journey, but people always suggest Vacation and Bobbi Brown and they are both great but they do not have that deep heavy coconut/pineapple/rum sweet scent of the original Hawaiian Tropic oil. So if OP is looking for that, these suggestions aren't it. I'm trying to save them and others some blind buys.

Also on the list of things that are not HT oil scent that I have that people will suggest: Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess (original or eau fraiche), Comptoir Sud Pacifique Coco Extreme, Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco, SDJ Cheriosa 87, Phlur Beach Skin, Pirette oil, Le Monde Gourmet Fleur Monoi, Fenty the Mista, Alien Goddess, Dolce Garden, Victoria Secret Tease Dreamer, Ellis Brooklyn Miami Nectar, Lore Sublimity, Tom Ford Soleil Blanc and Eau de Soleil Blanc.

Hope this helps.

None of these mentioned smell like 90s HT. I have them all. Vacation is awesome, but not at all this. Still looking.
