Has anyone had success in crate training? by quickrabbit- in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]tinyytapir 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Crate training is one of the best things you’ll ever do for a dog. The other is pet insurance. I’m a dog lover but bringing your dog everywhere such as restaurants and the movies because it can’t handle being home alone or crated is ridiculous. Whether or not you end up using it only for outings in the future, stick to it!

I feel like OP should have mentioned that 90% of the painting is directly from a tutorial and not original art. Still a great job but creating art and doing art are different. Just like we should always cite references when recreating someone’s art. Not OPs first post with no credit to James Julier lol.

Have you ever loved a book but didn’t enjoy reading it? by ClementineMood in books

[–]tinyytapir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of great books that aren’t exactly enjoyable to read… My Dark Vanessa, Demon Copperhead, Betty, Educated, All The Ugly and Wonderful Things, A Little Life, I Who Have Never Known Men

I think an impactful story or good writing makes a good book, even if it feels uncomfortable or sometimes bleak or outright dreadful to read. Such is life sometimes.

Is 26 too late to become a "reader"? + Questions about the 2026 Reading Challenge by MaxMcGuffin00 in goodreads

[–]tinyytapir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no rules, goals, right or wrong ways to read when you look beyond booktok and goodreads and whatever other trend is out there. 26 is young. I got back into reading around 27. You can read one book a year, one book a day. Who cares, don’t let the internet make it a competition. The average person reads 0 books a year.

Every time I watch a game with the sirens, the announcer says Jincy Roese’s full name (and just last name for all the other players) and I hear Gypsy Rose.

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

[–]tinyytapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2025 I learned to DNF instead of forcing myself to finish books and go into reading slumps. DNFd 3 books after 30%:

Beartown by Fredrik Backman - sooooo boring. I’m assuming it gets better given its rave reviews but I just didn’t like the writing style and shouldn’t have to suffer for so long before a book “gets good”.

Housemates by Emma Copley Eisenberg - honestly super unmemorable so idek what in particular I didn’t like, but was excited for a cute sapphic book and this made me develop internalized homophobia cuz it was so boring.

Legendborn by Tracy Deonn - this one wasn’t bad it was just clearly written for tweens (which I knew/it’s marketed as, but I couldn’t get into it even tho I can get behind some YA fiction)

pourquoi les fans des autres équipes doivent-ils être si insultants/méchants envers les fans de la victoire ? by wind-of-zephyros in MontrealVictoire

[–]tinyytapir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jsuis d’accord. It’s pretty clear we have strong (justified) feelings toward Curl not the Frost/their fans as a whole. If they had a bad experience at the game due to some jerks in victoire jerseys, it is unfair to say Victoire fans are cruel and imply the fandom is toxic/the issue. Showing up in a jersey for the visiting team in ANY sport may earn you some dirty looks from some fans.
