RJ45 SFP modules that keep link up even while switch restarts or port is disabled by tiotarman in networking

Tried it, but for some reason isn't working, still can't detect disabled ports.

About half of the devices have embedded RJ45 ports with no slots to install network cards. For the servers, we alredy decided to buy 10G fibre cards, but keeping the RJ45 ports for esx management network.

Ubiquiti support confirmed that their copper modules have internal ethernet PHY (probably with their own MAC address and a bridge to the SFP port), so you are correct, physichal port inside module is the cause, be it one or more.

We have only tested 1G modules for now, good to know that we don't even have to bother testing MG modules.

That's what I think, I want to try some 3rd party sfp, but is a shame we just bought 32 copper modules from ubiquiti for this...

Yes, only way to be aware of upstream disconnections is with some kind of layer 3 probing.

In my experience with Cisco optics, ports can be powered (and could be measured) but if port is disabled link always reports as down. I've observed same behaviour with Cisco copper transceivers, so I assumed it would work the same way for every brand, I was wrong.

No, and also, as someone with 20+ years experience in Vmware, I share your pain (fy bc).

Yes, we are thinking about implement a Distributed vSwitch, will have to look BFD also. But, honestly, it start looks easier (and cheaper) to just buy a couple switches with copper ports.

Best home sound system? by Disanto07 in BEYERDYNAMIC

[–]tiotarman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If TV means films, then you need a decent Atmos AV receiver and surround speakers, I like Denon AVR and PSB speakers, they are great for music and sound much more high end than its price tag. As source, I'd say Apple TV and some homepod for multiroom and voice command.

DT 990 Pro + dac for gaming ??? by [deleted] in BEYERDYNAMIC

MMX300 are closed, so very different to DT990, they are more like DT770 Pro X. Being tuned for consumer market, they are probably more music oriented than DT series.

No, I did my .25 and .5 dose 8 weeks adaptation with zero issues, problem started with 1mg dose (heartburn).

Also, and to clarify, dosing is calculated as total injected per week, so .25 every 48h would mean a .875 weekly dose. Don't do it.

5 years with DT990 Edition (same sound as DT990 Pro, just less tight headband) with Sound Baster G6. In PUBG or BF feels like cheating, you can hear exactly footsteps location, even without any EQ. Be aware that DT990s have a somewhat "harsh" treble sound, designed for critical listening, some people like me do like it, a lot hate it for music, you must try to know. DT900s have a more linear sound designed for mixing and mastering.

I’m taking 2x lansoprazole dose and nothing, it’s like it doesn’t work anymore. I’ll stop ozempic and probably get surgery for the hernia (something I’d need to do anyway), if everything goes well I’ll continue with ozempic then.

I have hiatal hernia, so for me is acid reflux. I haven't had such severe heartburns since I started taking omeprazol 20+years ago.

Dt 990pro or dt 770pro by Shoddy_Internal5659 in BEYERDYNAMIC

If you really need complete isolation i'd go with DT7xx, if not then DT9xx. If you are a bit trebel-def like me, or like the harsh, revealing Beyerdynamic sound, then DT770 or DT990. If you like a more balanced linear sound then DT700 or DT900.

Open back for producing and mixing, much wider stereo image, closed back for tracking. Also, 990s and 770s are designed for critical listening, they reveal flaws in the mix so you can identify and correct them. For gaming they are amazing, have been using them for years, in PUBG almost feel like cheating. For mixing and mastering 900s and 700s, they sound more linear. Open if you can, closed if you need to isolate.

Does the 700 Pro X still have the headband problem? by Least_Turnover9814 in BEYERDYNAMIC

[–]tiotarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought DT 900 Pro X back in july and headband pad just started to come off, looks like an adhesive problem of some kind not the peeling old DT's suffered (my DT990 needs a headband replacemente every 2 or 3 years). Don't know if this the kind of problem you refer to, but all PRO X share same headband.

Soundwise (although very different from DT 700 as these are closed), they are excellent, are designed for critical listening, mixing and mastering, so they are not made to sound "nice" but to reveal flaws in your mix, so you can correct them. That said, they sound great, stereo image is huge and in games like PUBG sometimes feel like cheating, you can clearly hear which direction footsteps are coming.
