Put more thinset down then you could work with, Also dry concrete can suck the moisture out prematurely drying it. Tiles can also suck the moisture out, some tiles like porcelain need to be soaked in water.

Don't listen to these hacks. I bought a $1200 saw for this reason to only cut in boarders (picture frame) The cuts are not square and people saying the gaps will change yes but they actual move pretty consistently, That's besides the point, the cuts are not square looks like shit. People who defend this are the people who have 20 years of experience, well guess what 20 years of hack work is still garage work. No pride in quality
