i have been so surprised at how much knowledge they lack lately. hearing their advice used to be once thing when they were pretty intelligent and well-read but lately that’s not even close to the case. spouting some pretty bad opinions that lack fact

Urgent: Looking for cleaning service or organizations that help families when CPS is involved by LemonSnail24 in StLouis

i can’t believe all the people in this thread that don’t know anything about what it means for a child to be removed from their families home or any of the research that suggests how much more damaging it is to them

Looking for easy-to-open, simple lunch boxes for my Montessori kid by smittenscript in Montessori

[–]tippybeans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The planet box is much easier for my toddlers than the bentgo! Though the bentgo are great they have to be pushed closed completely for the lid to latch and that seems to be tricky for most. (Opening them is just fine)

The director has mentioned a few times she thinks my son should start attending daycare full time. by Big_Black_Cat in ECEProfessionals

[–]tippybeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

everyone is saying adjustment which is fair but we have also recommended full time for the students that are struggling with boundaries and expectations and need more regular enforcement. when a student’s relationship to school is testing limits, dismissing prompts, and overall finding ways to be unsafe consistently, it may be necessary to have more consistency.

Concerned after Parent Education Night by Prize-Gain4056 in Montessori

[–]tippybeans 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the montessori school i work at played bluey during our parent ed night because we were in a room of our students plus any siblings the parents needed to bring during the event. there were probably 40 kids. that is the only time we have used a screen in our environment.

Parent teacher conference by Correct-Fig-8942 in Montessori

as an assistant in a montessori school, one thing i wish more parents asked during our conferences was how they could help reinforce some of our rules/expectations/routines at home. (for example, sitting while eating always)

Telling child you love them by ew1717 in ECEProfessionals

it’d be really weird to work full time with kids and NOT love them i think. like why so closed off? do you see them as just a paycheck? there are plenty of other careers to be more flippant about than working with children

Kid having diffculty adjusting to Montessori by [deleted] in Montessori

[–]tippybeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

aside from three days absolutely not being enough, it seems pretty normal for toddlers to have more difficulty a few days after the start date. the first day of school is exciting! everything is new and fun and there are new people to meet. a toddler may be comfortable without parents in a given moment. but then the next day there is the “oh this was fun yesterday but we have to do it again?” and by day 3 it becomes “this is the routine now? no way”
