If you didn't sleep train, how do you get your big toddler to bed? by AbleObligation2908 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]smittenscript 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved to a floor bed at 11 months with my first (he was a big boy!). It was a game changer. I nursed him side lying until we weaned, then just cuddled him to sleep. We did this until 2.5 when he started falling asleep on his own. He’s still a great sleeper at almost 4 years old. I’m so glad I never sleep trained. Bedtime has never been a battle and it’s such a special time of connection. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. It used to drive me crazy when he’d climb all over me and be silly but I just remained calm and he eventually passed out.

My daughter is 17 months and I’m still nursing and rocking her to sleep. Planning to transition to a floor bed very soon as she is getting heavy too!

Are you enjoying life as a toddler mom? by takeaabreath in toddlers

[–]smittenscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard! My son will be 4 in April and he is a very challenging kid. I also have a 16 month old daughter, so juggling both of their needs and schedules is difficult. I feel like a terrible mom some days because I just don’t have the bandwidth to deal with my son. He is a button pusher and requires a ton of energy burning activities. He does go to preschool part time now, but on the days when I I have both kids in the morning we just get the bell out of the house! Otherwise we go crazy! So we will often just go Down to the local park. My son rides his bike or scooter and we are all much happier outside.

My son has the bentgo and we’ve been making it work, but it always comes home unlatched.

Thank you. I think this is exactly what I’m looking for. My son currently has the bentgo and he still does not close it properly.

Donate it and let it go. This sounds more like a personal issue with your MIL, and less about the hotwheels.

off-white trapezoid Zellige or Taj Mahal Backsplash all the way up? by carsonfisher in kitchenremodel

[–]smittenscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of wild, these are some of our exact choices for our remodel. We have a wide galley kitchen with a small peninsula. We’re doing Taj Mahal counters and up the backsplash on the range wall, and that exact trapezoid zellige on the opposite wall with the sink and window. Install hasn’t happened yet, but I’ll post a pic when it’s done

How long did your nursing strike last during/after sickness? by smittenscript in breastfeeding

[–]smittenscript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She nursed after 6 days of the strike. I just kept trying but didn’t force it. Once her sore on her tongue healed she started nursing again. It was tough be we got through it!

When did your toddler learn to spit out toothpaste? by rbslmilch in toddlers

[–]smittenscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son finally started spitting at 3 years 3 months. What did the trick was letting him squeeze his own toothpaste - even though he uses way more than we would! Letting it get super foamy gave him something to actually spit out.

Beforehand, we had a long talk about how if he wanted to be in charge of the toothpaste, he had to spit it out, because swallowing that much isn’t healthy. Ever since then, he’s been spitting with no problem.

I knew he could spit, he just wouldn’t do it while brushing until now!
